Who said penguins are flightless birds? They can fly but only underwater. Some can accelerate up to 20 miles per hour, dive to depths of several hundred feet, and stay underwater for about 20 minutes. Ironically, they have extremely good hearing even without visible ears. Penguins are such interesting creatures. However, readers will come to know an even more unbelievably amazing penguin in author Wendy McLennan's newly published book, Pinto: the Pint-sized Battery-operated Robotic Penguin.

Pinto has a powerful computer inside his metal penguin body. He has a bright child-like personality and loves to learn. He was designed to help scientists working outdoors and his computer memory is constantly upgraded with information. His curiosity often gets him into trouble.

Living and working in remote locations is fraught with dangers from weather and equipment and people have to rely on the specially designed ships and planes to reach these destinations.

Take the plunge with Pinto and join him as he super powers through his adventures! Does he get lost? Is he shipwrecked? Who knows?

The illustrations by Catriona MacLaine give Pinto a quirky personality and the photographs of actual events, edited by Kai Johnston, make this a must read book.

Pinto: the Pint-sized Battery-operated Robotic Penguin is a one-of-a-kind storybook that will instill in young readers a love of the world and the marvels of this remote and intriguing part of our planet.

This book will be featured at the 2013 Bologna Book Fair in Bologna, Italy, on March 25 - 28, 2013.

About the Author
Wendy McLennan spent seven years working with many scientists dedicated to the continuing study of Antarctica and its influence on our planet.
