After years of living under the church pews, Amos has learned a few things. In Gary Mitchell's book, "Amos the Philosophical Churchmouse," Amos shares his messages and opinions about philosophy, theological topics, biblical concepts and hot-button religious issues.

"Amos provides a completely different and light-hearted perspective on philosophy and religion," Mitchell said. "There are many different authorities on these subjects that people may find unapproachable or inaccessible. Amos works to solve those problems."

To pen his book, Mitchell merged his experience in seminary education and journalism with his passion for creative writing. This allowed Mitchell to explain genuine subjects through Amos and his animal friends.

"Amos is a church mouse, but he doesn't merely wander about searching for communion crumbs," Mitchell said. "Amos is a philosopher. Living under the church pews, he's had plenty of time to consider the meaning of life and study religion and philosophy."

Amos' poetic reflections are a compilation of Mitchell's journalistic, philosophical and ministerial background. Through his writing, Mitchell aims to help readers discover new truths and insights into the world.

"Our perspective is that philosophy and the search for knowledge can be enjoyable," Mitchell said. "There is a philosopher seeking knowledge hidden away in everyone. They just have to recognize it."
