BWW Reviews: THE MISANTHROPE In Rep at Rocky Mountain High School
by Teresa Rodrick - November 01, 2013
I was invited to review THE MISANTHROPE written by Moliere performed by the students of Rocky Mountain High School. They did something different this year, they have two casts and did the play in two different styles. One cast performed the play in 1910's style of acting and the other cast performed it in the modern style.
BWW Reviews: STORY THEATRE Spins Tales for the Audience
by Teresa Rodrick - October 30, 2013
All of the stories were enchanting. The actors were very engaging and very energetic. They had a costume change for every story and as you will read below, there were many so for the actors to still have energy at the end of the night after all of those quick changes was impressive. They projected and, I find more surprising, annunciated.

Morrison Center Unveils New State-of-the-Art Sound System
by BWW News Desk - October 29, 2013
The Velma V. Morrison Center for the Performing Arts announced the installation of a new d&b audiotechnik V-series sound system. The award-winning, highly efficient system includes stereo line-array loud speakers, cardioid sub-woofers and digital amplification. The newest of d&b's product lines, the V-Series delivers crystal clear, detailed audio performance with an extraordinarily smooth and even frequency response over distance. It is a perfect fit for medium to large venues and will complement the Morrison Center's diverse array of program offerings. 'We auditioned many of the top brands over the last seven months,' said James Patrick, the Center's executive director. 'Ultimately, it came down to a combination of factors, including brand reputation, d&b's highly regarded 'European' tonality, artist and promoter friendliness, and competitive pricing. This new line array is a capital investment that will not only benefit our self-presentations, but also make us more marketable with national and local renters for years to come.' The new system debuted in Trey McIntyre Project's recent October performance.
BWW Reviews: SCHOOL HOUSE ROCK, JR Rocks At Meridian Middle School
by Teresa Rodrick - October 29, 2013
Treasure Valley Children's Theater, LLC, presents Treasure Valley Youth Theater, Inc performing SCHOOL HOUSE ROCK LIVE! JR. Oh, the nostalgia! I loved 'School House Rock' on television when I was young and I purchased them on DVDs to watch with my own children. I could probably sing them all by heart (except for the more resent ones on money and elections) and I did have trouble keeping myself from singing with the young actors on stage.

For Immediate Release - Kenny Rogers
by BWW News Desk - October 28, 2013
The legendary Kenny Rogers has enjoyed a 55-year-career as a Grammy Award-winning recording artist, distinctive vocalist, and consummate entertainer. Amazingly, Rogers has charted a record within each of the last seven decades and scored a hit single in the past six. Not many artists, if any at all, can lay claim to those extraordinary chart accomplishments. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame during a special Medallion Ceremony in Nashville on October 27th. Rogers recently finished recording a new album, You Can't Make Old Friends, which was released by Warner Bros. Records on October 8th to critical acclaim.
BWW Reviews: INSERT FOOT THEATRE
by Teresa Rodrick - October 28, 2013
The format that INSERT FOOT THEATRE uses is similar to 'Who's Line Is It Anyways?'. They have an announcer who gave the rules (and who will play a game or two later) and explains some of the intricacies of the game. He lets the audience know that the pressure for a fun night is on the audience and not on the performers. If the audience does not feed the performance, the performance will not fill the hunger of the audience. Tonight, all appetites were full.

BWW Reviews: THE JABBERWOCKY Creates Sense Out of Nonsense
by Teresa Rodrick - October 21, 2013
The JABBERWOCKY is based on a poem by Lewis Carroll in Alice Throuh the Looking Glass. Many people are confused about the poem and what it all means. All of the words are made-up, so much could be read into it. I really enjoyed what authors; Dakota Brown, Noah Moody, and Chat Shohet have done with the poem to give it meaning for young audiences.
BWW Reviews: THE LADY OF LYONS In Celebration of Boise's Sesquicenntenial

The House of the Seven Gables is a walk through haunted house experience like no other. You will be escorted by one of the house's many butlers through each haunting. Patrons will be placed directly in the climax of the greatest horror stories of all time. You will live these moments standing just inches away from Edgar Allen Poe's 'Tell Tale Heart', Frankenstein's Monster, Nosfuratu, Mrs. Lovett's Meat Pie Shop, and witness a Salem witch hanging.
BWW Reviews: MEMPHIS in Boise, ID
by Teresa Rodrick - October 14, 2013
The first thing you saw was an old radio dial with some steel work above it. This helped to set the mood of the 1950's in Memphis, Tennessee and what/who the show was about; Huey Calhoun, the radio personality. The musical appears to be based loosely on the life of DJ Dewey Phillips.
BWW Reviews: IT'S A SCREAM And So Will You!
by Teresa Rodrick - October 14, 2013
I attended dress rehearsal (without pen and paper) and I came back for Opening Night. That should tell you one thing: I was willing to come back after seeing the dress rehearsal; I was even excited to come back. It was a delightful show, very entertaining, fun with just enough shocks to get you in the mood and remind you it was October.

I just saw the opening night of RED by John Logan at Boise Contemporary Theater. Wow. They are, aside from Idaho Shakespeare Festival and the National Touring Shows, the only professional theatre in Boise and they proved why.
