ELVIS LIVES to Stop at the Morrison Center This Winter

It was announced today that the award-winning theatrical attraction ELVIS LIVES 'THE ULTIMATE ELVIS TRIBUTE ARTIST EVENT' will kick off the 2017 touring season during the January 6-8, 2017 Elvis birthday celebration. The tour will come to the Morrison Center today, February 17th, 2016 at 8:00 PM.

On February 24th, Alley Repertory Theater will open BUYER & CELLAR by Jonathan Tolins, a comedy about the idiosyncrasies of the real Barbra Streisand, starring Jodi Eichelberger. Directed by Alley Rep Artistic Director Buffie Main, BUYER & CELLAR will run for three weekends at Visual Arts Collective with doors opening at 7:00 pm and the show beginning at 8:00 pm. Boise State University's Velma V. Morrison Center for the Performing Arts announced it ranked #4 in its category (2001-5,000 seats) for 'Top Stops in the Pacific Northwest' by Venues Today Inc. The ranking is based on gross box office receipts. Gross box office receipts for the period (November 1, 2015 - October 31, 2016) exceeded $4 million for 79 public performances with an attendance of 92,772 patrons.

This weekend the Velma V. Morrison Center brought us ONCE, based on the 2007 movie of the same name. The low budget film won an Oscar for for the best original song 'Falling Slowly', and I am thrilled that most of the music (the best part of the movie) is included in the musical version.

Ilana Becker to Join Company of Fools in New Associate Artistic Director Position

Company of Fools (COF) is pleased to announce that Ilana Becker has been appointed to the new position of Associate Artistic Director. After conducting a national search that yielded more than 80 qualified applicants, Company of Fools' and Sun Valley Center for the Arts' leadership determined that Becker's expertise and passion for theatre made her the ideal candidate for the position. In her new role, Becker will assist newly promoted COF Artistic Director John Glenn and contribute to The Center's education initiatives and BIG IDEA programs. Glenn, who was recently honored with the 2016 Idaho Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts, assumed leadership of Company of Fools following the recent departure of his co-artistic director, Denise Simone.
