Englewood Fire Department and Bergen Performing Arts Center are teaming up again to collect TOYS for children in need Bergen County with bergenPAC's November 25th performance of kids show, ImaginOcean, and continuing through the holidays, bergenPAC will be collecting new, unwrapped toys to be distributed to area children. Toys will be collected at Jim Brickman (November 28th ), Video Games Live (November 29th), New Jersey Ballet's The Nutcracker performances(December 1st and 2nd), Brian Setzer Orchestra (December 5th ), Judy Collins with Jimmy Webb (December 8th), Audra Rox Live!(December 9th), and A Christmas Carol (December 15th) , Chef Robert Irvine" (December 16th) and Kenny Rogers with special guest Billy Dean (December 19th).

The Plowmen will present the World Premiere of Soldier, written and performed by Jonathan Draxton, and directed by Kevin O'Rourke (Mayor Edward Bader on HBO's "Boardwalk Empire"). Soldier runs from December 11 - 22, 2012 in a limited engagement at HERE, located at 145 6th Avenue (Enter on Dominick, 1 block south of Spring) in New York City. Previews begin December 11 for a December 13 opening.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art will present a special exhibition highlighting the African works acquired by the New York avant-garde and its most influential patrons during the 1910s and 1920s. At the beginning of the 20th century, the appreciation of African artifacts in the West shifted dramatically from colonial trophies to modernist icons. Reflecting on New York's dynamism during the years that followed the 1913 Armory Show, African Art, New York, and the Avant-Garde brings together African art from the collections of many key individuals of the period, now dispersed throughout private and institutional collections. Showcasing more than 60 works from Africa and the Western avant-garde, the exhibition evokes the original context in which they were first experienced simultaneously nearly a century ago. Highlights of the exhibition are 36 wood sculptures from West and Central Africa; they will be presented alongside photographs, sculptures, and paintings by Alfred Stieglitz, Charles Sheeler, Pablo Picasso, Francis Picabia, Diego Rivera, Henri Matisse, and Constantin Brancusi.

The Stolen Chair Theatre Company announces extended performances of The Bachelors' Tea Party, a surreal society comedy performed by two actors and four dolls alongside an exquisite 5-course classic tea service, which has been performing to sold out houses every Sunday afternoon at 5pm at Lady Mendl's Tea Salon (56 Irving Place between 17th and 18th Street) since April.

To kick off the holiday season, Actors' Playhouse Musical Theatre for Young Audiences will present a timeless tale of yuletide spirit live on stage in A Christmas Carol, the Musical. The Chicago Fringe Festival has announced its application dates for groups and organizations interested in participating in the 2013 Fringe Festival, August 29 - September 8, 2013. The application, currently available online for review at Chicagofringe.org, may be completed with the application fee and submitted Saturday, Dec. 8 at 10 a.m. - Friday, Feb. 15 at 11:59 p.m. CST. The Polar Express, first released in 2004, has become a favorite of young people of all ages. The cutting-edge "motion capture process" used to film the story converts the work of live actors - including Tom Hanks, Michael Jeter and Peter Scolari - into dazzling animation. The film is a visual feast, unlike any other holiday family movie.

After breaking box office records in 2006 and 2011, WICKED, Broadway's biggest blockbuster returns to Segerstrom Center for the Arts February 20 - March 17.

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Conservatory Director Melissa Smithannounced today that the A.C.T. Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) Program will present Andrew Lippa's The Wild Party, taking audiences back in time, capturing the edginess and excitement of the roaring '20s. With a book, music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa, the production is directed by Mark Rucker and will play a limited four show engagement. The National Touring Company of WICKED will host A WICKED WONDERLAND at the Sheldon Concert Hall (3648 Washington Blvd.) in St. Louis, MO on Monday, December 17, 2012. The performance will begin at 7pm with VIP reception to follow. The event will feature the company of WICKED, and net proceeds will benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and STAGES ST. LOUIS.

In an unprecedented partnership of four Baltimore cultural organizations, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO), Baltimore School for the Arts (BSA), Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and The Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric will come together for the first time this December to present Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's full-length holiday classic The Nutcracker.

The Jackson Gallery will be filled with art and fine crafts once again through the holiday season. Honoring the fifth year of this annual show, an invitation went out to all previous exhibitors. Twenty-seven regional artists will be presenting work in a wide variety of media. All have been recognized for their individual approaches to style, design and image, making this exhibit a true celebration of local talent.

"Mel Leipzig: Mostly Recent Works" comes to the Gallery at Mercer County Community College from Monday, Nov. 26 to Thursday, Dec. 27. Eighteen works by the internationally renowned artist who has taught at MCCC for more than four decades will be on display. The Gallery is located on the second floor of the Communication Building on Mercer's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.
