On Saturday, March 23, 7:30pm, AOP (American Opera Projects) and Opera on Tap will present a new installment of their acclaimed series, 'OPERAtion Brooklyn' a semi-annual festival that highlights Brooklyn as the cultural epicenter for progressive works of opera and classical music. Audiences will be guided around multiple floors of ART-NY's South Oxford Space (138 S. Oxford St., Brooklyn 11217) in Fort Greene, Brooklyn to hear music from new operas by local talents Mikael Karlsson, James Barry and Zach Redler. Tickets are $20, available at www.operationbrooklyn.com. The evening will run 1 hour, thirty minutes.

Mother of Invention, under the Artistic Direction of Gina Stahlnecker has announced that Austin Pendleton will direct it's production of LOOK HOMEWARD, ANGEL, Ketti Frings' acclaimed 1957 play based on Thomas Wolfe's first and largely autobiographical novel, March 13 - 24 at Abingdon Theatre Company's Strelsin Theatre (312 West 36th St.). The official opening will be on March 16th at 8PM.

Norfolk Chamber Music Festival Announces 2013 Season

The Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, presented by the Yale School of Music, celebrates its 72nd season this year with performances and residencies by six internationally esteemed string quartets alongside students and young professionals from around the world. From June 22 to August 17 Norfolk will host a roster of string quartets including: the Artis Quartet, the Brentano Quartet, the Emerson String Quartet, the Jasper String Quartet, the Keller Quartet, and the Tokyo String Quartet. The Tokyo String Quartet, which is retiring this year, will play its last concert on July 6 at the festival. And on August 3 the Emerson String Quartet will perform its New York area debut concert with the group's new cellist, Paul Watkins.

The Philadelphia Orchestra, under the leadership of its Music Director Yannick Nezet-Seguin, today announced a partnership with iconic classical music label Deutsche Grammophon-in the form of a recording scheduled to be released in the fall of 2013. This is the Orchestra's first studio album with a major label since its recording with Deutsche Grammophon in 1997. The works will be recorded this spring in the Orchestra's home, Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center, and will feature Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, and which Leopold Stokowski premiered in the U.S. with The Philadelphia Orchestra in 1922. Stokowski also made the first American recording of this work with the ensemble in 1930. In addition to The Rite of Spring, other works include Stokowski transcriptions for full symphony orchestra of three of Bach's most famous organ works-his Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor, Fugue in G minor ("Little"), and Toccata and Fugue in D minor-as well as his transcription of Stravinsky's "Pastorale".

Frontiers Records has announced Whitesnake's highly anticipated live concert 'Made In Japan' will be released on Deluxe 2CD/DVD Edition, Blu-ray and DVD in the UK on Monday April 22 (U.S release is April 23). “Made In Japan” captures the multi-platinum rock band's co-headline performance at the “Loud Park” festival, which took place in Japan's Saitama Super Arena on October 15th 2011.
