THE EXECUTION WILL NOT BE TELEVISED Promises To Be A Killer

One golden cage. Two giant thrones. Four criminals-turned-contestants. Three will be executed. One will walk free to live another day. What more do you need for a successful reality TV show?

Welcome to The Execution Will Not Be Televised. The TV show that everyone is talking about. In a pursuit of democracy and entertainment, the world leaders decided to let the great public get involved with our court decisions. Each night, four criminals are brought into the spotlight in front of our live TV audience, our handpicked beautiful jury, and our two judges, Your Honour and Reverend Father. Quite literally scared for their lives, they share their stories, why they deserve a chance at redemption, and do their best to win your love, no matter what they've done. Combining both the votes of the great Australian public and our judges, three will be forced into that execution chair, whilst one is named champion again. Will our new contestants walk freely, or will our returning three-time-Champion, Oscar, take home a fourth win?

Written, directed and produced by prolific British playwright Kieran Gould-Dowen, and the final show of the year from Thatcher's Boy Theatre (Take A Seat, Cracked Smiles, Fall On Death Ears) this is not just a show but a theatrical experience, thrusting you into the world of the show from the moment you set foot through the door. It tackles the three issues of how much Christian law effects our government laws; how much discrimination sits within the laws written to give all a chance; and when will we learn to separate the law from our growing addiction to media and entertainment.

"I have been very blessed with how my work has been received in Melbourne. For me, this show is the end of an era. Our company has recently expanded with several new amazing members and projects coming in. Even my own work will be taking a different route moving forward, stepping away from the dystopian worlds I create. As this is my last time in the director's seat for a while with my first child due in January, I am ecstatic that I am ending the first phase of Thatcher's Boy Theatre with this show. The show itself is fantastic, fun and exciting, but also the cast absolutely blow me away each time we come together. I feel very proud." - Gould-Dowen, Writer, Director & Producer

This production opens on 21st November 2018 and runs for five nights, with an earlier show on Sunday. Tickets: themcshowroom.com/event/the-execution-will-not-be-televised/.
