Melbourne Cabaret Festival to Present The Brodsky Quartet, 7/25
In collaboration with our major cultural partner, the Australian National Academy of Music, the Melbourne Cabaret Festival is ecstatic to present the planet's best and most famous quartet - the Brodsky Quartet from the UK - in collaboration with comedian, actor, composer, performer and 2009 Helpmann Award winner, Eddie Perfect. The Brodsky ensemble will be supplemented with Academy musicians.
The show, called ‘Songs From the Middle', will take place on Sunday 25 July at 8.30 pm and is on sale NOW.
After premiering with us the show will go on to tour to the Sydney Opera House and Brisbane Powerhouse and there are some exciting side projects in development.
The Brodsky Quartet has formerly collaborated with artists such as Sting, Bjork, Elvis Costello and Dave Brubeck.
When we started planning this Festival, we envisaged that it would take us a few years before enticing such a world class show. Thank you, thank you, thank you to the Academy - Australia's premier institution for training the country's finest young classical musicians - and the performers.
Applications to perform in the rest of the Festival closed yesterday and we will commence making final decisions. We won't actually launch the full program until late April to avoid clashing with the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
The program will feature a selection of international, interstate and local cabaret acts. They will be diverse in style so we appeal to a wide cross-section of audiences, but will all be high in quality.
