The smash hit musical revue production FOREVER PLAID opened December 8 for Theatre FMPAT in the new Black Box performance space at the MCL Grand Theater. A wonderful night with special guest of honor, Mayor Melissa Northern, who spoke to the audience pre-show. Mayor Northern spoke on need for more patronage of the arts in our community, and was so kind to thank Theatre FMPAT for the past 19 years of bringing the arts to our communities. Theatre owners were very touched and honored by her kind words. Theatre FMPAT encourages members of the community to take her advice and be a patron for one of the remaining ten performances of FOREVER PLAID: December 9-23.

One of the most popular and successful musicals in recent memory, this deliciously funny revue centers on four young, eager male singers, singing in the closest of harmony, squabbling boyishly over the smallest intonations and executing their charmingly outlandish choreography with over-zealous precision. The "Plaids" were killed in a car crash in the 1950s on the way to their first big concert and are now miraculously revived for the posthumous chance to fulfill their dreams and perform the show that never was. Featuring toe-tapping hits from the 50's and 60's, sung in amazing four-part harmony, this family favorite is a perfect treat for the holiday season. FOREVER PLAID is based on the book by Stuart Ross with music and lyrics by various artists. It is produced by special arrangement with Music Theatre International and Actors' Equity Association.

Songs include: "Three Coins in the Fountain"; "Undecided"; "Gotta Be This or That"; "Moments to Remember'; "Crazy 'Bout Ya, Baby"; "No, Not Much"; "Sixteen Tons"; "Chain Gang", Perfidia"; "Cry"; "Heart and Soul"; "Lady of Spain"; "Scotland the Brave"; "Shangri-La"; "Rags to Riches"; and "Love is a Many-Splendored Thing."

Theatre FMPAT first staged FOREVER PLAID in 2006 to sell-out crowds and critical acclaim making it the perfect show to close the season in the new theatre space. The original, professional cast of FOREVER PLAID is back due to their audience popularity and success.

Starring cast members Mark Mullino (Frankie), who also directs, Eric Domuret (Jinx), Doug Miller (Sparky) and Jacob Villarreal (Smudge), and features music direction by acclaimed pianist Vonda K. Bowling.

"Forever Plaid" runs December 8-23, 2011, The MCL Grand Black Box Theater, located at 100 North Charles Street, Lewisville, completing Theatre FMPAT's 19th Season of plays and musicals. Seats are available for $25 for adults and $22 for seniors, students, and children. Tickets will go fast, and are available now at www.fmpat.org, or by phone 972-724-2147.
