Tie-Knots.org, an online fashion blog and tie a tie tutorial site, published a series of articles focusing on the best fall/winter menswear collections of 2012.

“I am extremely excited about this list,” says men's fashion blogger Hendrik Pohl. “Fall and winter are our times of the year, as they typically signify a rather dramatic shift in the style of pieces seen throughout the market. Short sleeves are traded in for those which are long, coats become essential and lighter fabrics typically transition into heavier varieties such as wool. We wanted to highlight a few of our favorite collections that we’ve seen so far for fall/winter 2012, and are quite confident in the choices we’ve made.”

Five different labels are highlighted throughout the series, with each getting its own piece. Calvin Klein is celebrated for the label’s ability to bring adventurous outerwear into the limelight, for example, with the Diesel Black Gold collection being praised for excellent usage of dark earth tones. Nautica also finds itself making the list, as does French label A.P.C. and designer Jill Sander.

“With this list, I wanted to be sure we highlighted a strong mixture of labels - those which are well-known in America like Calvin Klein, Diesel and Nautica, as well as lesser known labels such as A.P.C. and Jill Sander,” says Pohl. “The latter are boutique fashion houses that happen to be putting out some of the highest-quality pieces on the market at the moment, while the former all have long track records for releasing clothing of consistent quality over the years. With so many different collections out there to choose from, it wasn’t easy for us to make these decisions.”

Pohl is a freelance writer, men's fashion critic, and proclaimed tie aficionado. When not writing about men's fashion, he manages an online retailer selling ties and other men's fashion accessories.
