The Kingdom Choir To Perform At Invictus Games 2018 Closing Ceremony
Following their show-stopping performance of Stand By Me at the Royal Wedding on 19 May 2018, The Kingdom Choir have been announced to perform at the Closing Ceremony of the Invictus Games Sydney 2018 on 27 October 2018. Founded by The Duke of Sussex in 2014, the Invictus Games is an international adaptive sporting event for wounded, injured and ill service men and women, both active duty and veteran. The Games use the healing power of sport to inspire recovery, support, rehabilitation and celebrate the crucial role played by family and friends.
The Kingdom Choir will release their debut album 'Stand By Me' on Friday 26 October 2018. The album features the choir's much-loved version of Stand By Me that they performed at this year's Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The choir's diverse album track listing also includes captivating renditions of Beyoncé's Halo, John Legend's All Of Me as well as Stormzy's Blinded By Your Grace Part 2. Also on the album is a brand new, emotionally powerful ballad written by members of The Kingdom Choir called Chases.
The choir was founded in 1994 by award-winning conductor Karen Gibson. The group of singers from in and around London draw from various Christian traditions and are dedicated to creating a sound that demonstrates the community they share through their warm energy and enthusiastic performance. Prior to performing in front of nearly 2 billion people at the Royal Wedding, the largest audience The Kingdom Choir had performed to was just 200 people.
The Kingdom Choir will also tour the UK in May 2019 with tickets on sale now. Their inaugural show at the Royal Albert Hall will mark exactly one-year of their remarkable and mesmerising royal wedding performance.
The Kingdom Choir's debut album will be released via Sony Music on Friday 26 October 2018.
