At last night's Academy Award's Red Carpet event, comedian Sacha Baron Cohen arrived in the guise of the lead character of his upcoming film "The Dictator". Earlier in the week, an Oscar representative warned the comedian that he would be banned from attending the event if he showed up dressed as the fictional foreign dictator. Commented the Oscar rep, "He's (Cohen) still invited. We would love for him to come. We have expressed that we don't feel it's appropriate to use our Oscar red carpet as a venue for a movie promotional stunt." When questioned what the consequences would be if Cohen disobeyed the warning, the rep simply responded, "We'll have to cross that bridge when we get to that."

Apparently disobeying the warning, Cohen arrived in full regalia at last night's award's ceremony, carrying an urn which he told E! host Ryan Seacrest was filled with the ashes of the late North Korean leader Kim Jong-il. In the midst of the red carpet interview, Cohen leaned forward and spilled the "ashes" all over the tuxedo of a clearly annoyed Seacrest. The host took a few moments to clean himself up and joked, "Now you know why this isn't taped. Anything can happen, and it most certainly did - all over my lapel."
