The new iteration of the series will be available via the BBC in the UK and on Netflix globally.
Netflix & the BBC have released a first-look picture of Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things, Industry) as Charles Shelby in the next generation of Peaky Blinders, written and created by Steven Knight.
At six episodes each, the two series are being filmed in and around Digbeth Loc. Studios in Birmingham, and, upon release, will be available via the BBC in the UK and on Netflix globally.
Having fought a violent war, much of it behind enemy lines, Charles Shelby is now embracing normality. He hasn’t seen his half-brother Duke – played by Jamie Bell (All of Us Strangers, Rocketman) – in years. Charles severed all ties to the PEAKY BLINDERS gang, and the hedonistic Shelby lifestyle. But can you ever escape your own blood? In this new era of Peaky Blinders, set a decade after World War Two, the race to rebuild Birmingham becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions.
Also starring in PEAKY BLINDERS are Jessica Brown Findlay (Silo, The Flatshare), Lashana Lynch (The Day of the Jackal, No Time to Die), and Lucy Karczewski (Stereophonic) in her TV debut. Details of these roles will be shared at a later date.
In the years since the original series launched on the BBC in 2013, PEAKY BLINDERS has become a global phenomenon, winning fans across the world and countless awards, including the 2018 BAFTA for Best Drama Series. Feature film Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man launched on Netflix in March and was the streamer’s number one film globally after launch.
