NATALIE DOUGLAS Headlines All-Star Lineup In STEPHEN HANKS' Critically Acclaimed Series RIDE THE BLUE WAVE 2018, 10/13 at Don't Tell Mama

Last December, with the 2018 Midterm elections on the horizon, New York-based Cabaret producer, performer, promoter, and former reviewer (for Cabaret Scenes Magazine and BroadwayWorld.com) Stephen Hanks (photo left) decided he needed to combine his passion for cabaret and politics and channel that energy into action on behalf of the Democratic and Progressive candidates running for the US Senate, the US Congress, and some state offices this November.

On April 4 at the iconic Don't Tell Mama, Hanks launched his variety series CABARET CAMPAIGNS: RIDE THE BLUE WAVE 2018!, which has been raising funds for various Democratic candidates around the country at each show. The first four shows, including ones on June 28, August 16, and September 13, played to sold-out houses, as audiences have boisterously cheered the performers as if they were at a political convention, and the shows have generated Great Blue Raves:

"[For the June 28 show] Seven daughters of Athena (Goddess of Wisdom and War) took to the stage at Don't Tell Mama for the second in Stephen Hanks' estimable series Cabaret Campaigns: Ride the Blue Wave 2018. It was a stunning evening. Impassioned vocalists accustomed to employing other's words expressed themselves with awareness, intelligence, and determination rallying against the increasingly frightening reign of a deeply dysfunctional government. Songwriters among them conveyed high wattage objection with both gravitas and rapier humor . . . --Alix Cohen, WomanAroundTown.com

Cabaret Campaigns: Ride The Blue Wave 2018

To help him with his "Campaigning," Hanks has recruited All-Star Casts of Cabaret performers who are equally passionate about motivating people to "Ride the Blue Wave" in 2018. On Hanks' Birthday, October 13, 7 pm, CABARET CAMPAIGNS: RIDE THE BLUE WAVE 2018! (with Michael Roberts, who wrote the Series theme song "The Great Blue Wave" as Musical Director) will feature the 4th All-Female Cast, including 2018 Two-Time MAC Award-Winner Natalie Douglas (representing Florida Governor Candidate Andrew Gillum), MAC Award-Winner Kim Grogg (representing Indiana Congress Candidate Liz Watson), MAC and Bistro Award-Winner Billie Roe (representing Iowa Congress Candidate Cindy Axne), MAC and Bistro Award-Winner Annie Hughes (representing Wisconsin Governor Candidate Tony Evers--against Scott Walker), Broadway and Television Actor/Singer Lane Bradbury (representing Georgia Congress Candidate Lucy McBath), and Blair Alexis Brown, who most recently appeared in the Off-Broadway Musical GOLDSTEIN (representing Kentucky Congress Candidate Amy McGrath). For reservations, call 212-757-0788 or go HERE.

The cover charge for these shows is $30 (with a two-drink minimum, cash only) and proceeds from each show-in addition to matching funds--will be donated to the candidates represented by the performers in that show. The five shows hope to generate more than $6,000 to split among 30 candidates. For more information and interview requests, email stephenhanks41@gmail.com
