Previously seen on the Miller stage as a sideman with Eric Reed and Wycliffe Gordon, Damien Sneed returns as bandleader. A sought-after pianist, organist, conductor, and composer, Sneed smoothly shifts between different musical genres and styles, but showcases his spectacular Gospel talents in this musical gathering.

BIO: DAMIEN SNEED has studied at Howard University, the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University, Manhattan School of Music, the Interdenominational Theological Center, and New York University. Sneed has the ability to shift between different musical genres and styles; from classical to jazz to gospel to opera to secular and more. Sneed's musical prowess has allowed him to be featured at the Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, and The Juilliard School, and in England, Japan, the United States Virgin Islands, and South America, as well as in 42 states in the United States. He has recorded several internationally distributed projects along with Grammy Award-winning artists. Currently is he professionally affiliated with the City University of New York as a professor of music, The Juilliard School as a staff accompanist, Jazz at Lincoln Center as an artistic consultant, New York University's Clive Davis Department for Recorded Music, and The Greater Allen Cathedral of New York.

ORLANDO CONSORT

The Orlando Consort celebrates the achievements of Guillaume Dufay, arguably the greatest composer of the late Middle Ages. Born in France around the year 1400, his development of style changed the face of music in Western Europe. The program features movements from Dufay's magnificent Missa Sancti Jacobi, dedicated to ST. James the Great, with glorious short motets by his contemporaries.

BIO: Formed in 1988 by the Early Music Centre of Great Britain, ORLANDO CONSORT is one of Britain's most important chamber music ensembles. Working with leading academics on music that has often never been performed in modern times, they have set new standards of performance, particularly with regard to the pronunciation and tuning. In recent times Orlando Consort has also attracted praise for their imaginative programming of contemporary music and jazz, and for their outstanding educational projects. The Orlando Consort has made frequent appearances on the British and Dutch Early Music Networks. Regular performers at London's Wigmore Hall and the South Bank Centre, the Consort has also sung in festivals in Spain, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Greece, Russia, Italy, Portugal, and Sweden. Even further from home, the Consort has made repeat visits to Japan and has also traveled to Peru, Bolivia, and Colombia. The work of the Orlando Consort extends well beyond conventional early music presentation: they frequently perform with local amateur choirs and with actors of the caliber of Robert Hardy and Prunella Scales.
