Just Ask Marlene Announces The 'No Bullying On Broadway' 2018 Summer Scholarship Opportunity

Just Ask Marlene (JAM), a lifestyle brand engaged in empowering teens, will be offering a special "No Bullying on Broadway" Scholarship for students ages 14-18. This scholarship, created in partnership with the National Theatre for Student Artists, will provide a young actor or director with the chance to participate in one of NTSA's three-week residential summer programs.

The National Theatre for Student Artists (NTSA) brings together young artists from across the country to stage new plays and musicals off-Broadway. JAM's "No Bullying on Broadway" Scholarship Winner will receive a full scholarship for one of NTSA's three-week programs, valued at $4,970. This experience offers the Scholarship Winner a chance to couple their theatre arts training with a critical anti-bullying message.

"With over 160,000 students skipping school every day for fear of being bullied, and given the mission of JAM, I feel the responsibility to help get the No Bullying message out there.* Using the JAM social media platform with over 50,000 in the network, JAM's Scholarship Winner will carve out some time from rehearsals for her or his role as the No Bullying on Broadway social media correspondent relating an ongoing message of anti-bullying," says Marlene Wallach, President of Wilhelmina Kids & Teens and Just Ask Marlene. The Scholarship Winner will receive one-on-one training in how to write, film, and edit compelling social media content.

"We are incredibly proud to be partnering with JAM this year," adds NTSA Executive Director Victoria Chatfield. "JAM empowers tweens and teens to be 'upstanders' and change their schools for the better. That's the message that the 'No Bullying on Broadway' Scholarship promotes."

NTSA rehearses its productions at Daemen College in Amherst, NY. Productions will be staged at the Theatre at St. Peter's in Midtown East, NYC. Session 1: June 15-July 7, 2018; Session 2: July 8-29, 2018.

Applications are being accepted until April 25, 2018 at 11:59 PM. Final winner will be announced before midnight on April 30, 2018.

Since 2012, the National Theatre for Student Artists has been bringing new works by young artists to off-Broadway stages. In the words of Dramatics: "This is a selective company created by and for passionate young artists who see the theatre as a professional home, not a hobby. The scripts developed offer the chosen actors a chance to portray age-appropriate characters created by playwrights from their own generation. As a result, the productions at NTSA are theatre at its best."
