JUDY Releases Death Of A Ladies' Mutt EP, Shares New Track
Blue Broderick and Leah Levinson will celebrate the release with a show at Footsies in Los Angeles.
Los Angeles rock duo JUDY has released its second EP, DEATH OF A LADIES' MUTT, alongside the focus track SHE GOT ME IN HER HANDS. The band, made up of Blue Broderick of DINERS and Leah Levinson of AGRICULTURE, formed as a side project for the two to write songs and experiment with DIY recording methods together. The pair recorded two EPs worth of material over five consecutive days in a makeshift home studio.
Album opener 'She Got Me In Her Hands' is an instant-classic pop-rock song about a crush that is only kind-of-sort-of available and the singer's resignation in response. 'She won't write me off or write me back, and I'm fine with that,' the singer opines over a cooly detached groove.
As co-songwriters and co-producers, Broderick and Levinson tap into an array of shared influences with JUDY. Their music connects the dots between The Velvet Underground, The Shangri-Las, The Donnas, The Beatles, Fountains of Wayne, Guided By Voices, Leonard Cohen, and The Ramones with the effortlessness of songwriters who have long since internalized those artist's lessons. Their first two EPs find them exploring themes of unrequited lust, cartoon violence, sexual fixations, and cannibalism.
JUDY will be celebrating the EP's release at Footsies (Los Angeles, CA) on Thursday, August 6. During the late summer and early fall they will play several shows across California and Arizona.
