Highly acclaimed New York singer Cristina Fontanelli, who's best known for her amazing operatic/crossover soprano voice, along with her traditional Italian vocal performances, will once again do her annual holiday concert "Christmas in Italy" on Sunday, November 29th at 3pm at Merkin Concert Hall at the Kaufman Center - 129 W. 67th St., NY, NY 10023 (Between Amsterdam and Broadway).

Joining Cristina Fontanelli will be Maestro David Maiullo on piano, John La Barbera on mandolin/guitar and Ernie Barry on accordion, to present a very special concert of Italy's best-loved folk songs, Neopolitan songs, arias and Christmas classics. As a special treat for her audience this year, Fontanelli will also have the Montfort Academy Choir perform select musical numbers with her. The Montfort Academy is an award-winning classical private Catholic High School with a strong emphasis on Italian culture. Ms. Fontanelli will be wearing a new gown designed especially for her by Academy Award nominated costume designer Maria Marzilli.

In addition to her annual holiday event for the last six years, Cristina Fontanelli has become one of New York's most popular entertainers, having just performed at this year's Columbus Day Parade on the New York Post float and recently sold-out her March performance at Feinstein's at the Regency, where she opened her act with "With a Song in My Heart" and "I Feel a Song Coming On" by Rogers and Hart. Alan Farnham of Forbes commented that "Cristina Fontanelli at Feinstein's at the Regency "is like seeing a cross between Maria Callas and Ethel Merman -- she has no equal!"

Opera, of course, remains Ms. Fontanelli's base, which she has performed all over the world with opera companies and in concert halls, including appearances in Tokyo, Paris, Milan, Cairo, Dubai, Hong Kong, Istanbul and Uganda. Here in the US, Fontanelli has performed in the Clinton White House, The Presidential Inaugural Ball in 2005 and prestigious venues including The Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center and Boston Symphony Hall. In the tradition of great Italian classical vocalists such as Caruso, Pavarotti and Bocelli, Fontanelli is joining the ranks of artists who sing popular songs with classically trained voices.
