Bah, Humbug! GLEE Will Not Release 2013 Christmas Album

By:

In an interview with Billboard.com, Columbia Records CEO Rob Stringer revealed that there will not be a Glee 2013 Christmas album this year. The news marks the first time in three years that the gang from McKinley High will not be sharing X Mas tunes with their fans.

FOX's musical dramedy has celebrated the holidays since the second season's "A Very Glee Christmas" and season 3's "Extraordinary Merry Christmas." Each holiday episode coincided with a full-length album release, including carols and Christmas songs performed by the cast which were not featured in the episode.

The last time the talented cast celebrated the season came in last year's 10th episode of Season 4 entitiled, "Glee, Actually." The episode was based on the romantic film comedy "Love, Actually" and the accompanying soundtrack included the tracks "White Christmas," "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas," and the John Lennon classic "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)."

Since this season of Glee is concentrated on the second half of the school's academic year, it makes sense that viewers will not be seeing an episode devoted to the holiday season. When discussing Glee's past Christmas releases, Stringer shared, "This is the first time in three years we don't have a "Glee" Christmas album. But I think we sold 1.87 albums of the "Glee" Christmas editions."
