American Wing Theater Honors Grant Recipients At Sardi's 12/5

The American Theatre Wing's Grants Program will honor its 2008 grant recipients, 50 New York City not-for-profit theatres that reflect the range of diversity of New York's theatres, at a luncheon at Sardi's on Friday, December 5th at noon.

As part of its longstanding mission of celebrating and supporting the very best in theatre, not just on Broadway, but in smaller, non-commercial venues, the American Theatre Wing provides funding to New York City not-for-profit theatre organizations to both honor and sustain their work. This year, the Wing will provide $125,000 in support to the 50 not-for-profit theatres. Throughout the 52 years of the program, the Wing has donated close to $3 million.

Charles Busch, Lisa Kron, Jenna Malone, Donald Margulies, Theresa Rebeck, Marian Seldes, Andre De Shields, and Michael Weller are expected to attend as guests of theatre companies being honored.

This year's recipients are: Abingdon Theatre Company, The Actors Company Theatre, Atlantic Theater Company, Barrow Group, Cherry Lane Theatre, Classic Stage Company, Classical Theatre of Harlem, Collaborative Arts Project 21, Culture Project, The Ensemble Studio Theatre, The Flea Theater, Here Arts Center, INTAR Hispanic American Arts Center, The Irish Repertory Theatre, Keen Company, La MaMa e.t.c., LAByrinth Theater Company, Lincoln Center Theater, Ma-Yi Theatre Company, Manhattan Theatre Club, MCC Theater, Mint Theater Company, New Federal Theatre, New Georges, The New Group, New York Classical Theatre, New York Theatre Workshop, Pan Asian Repertory, The Pearl Theatre Company, Phoenix Theatre Ensemble, Primary Stages, Prospect Theater Company, The Public Theater, Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre Company, Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, Roundabout Theatre Company, Second Stage Theatre, Signature Theatre Company, Soho Rep., Thalia Spanish Theatre, Inc., Theatre Breaking Through Barriers, Theatre For A New Audience, Theater For The New City, TheaterworksUSA, Transport Group, Urban Stages, Vineyard Theatre, Women's Project and Productions, and Working Theater.
