A CAPPELLA & UNPLUGGED Round 1 to Take the Stage at Capitol Theatre

The Franklin County Visitors Bureau has announced A Cappella & Unplugged 2026 at the Capitol Theatre on Friday, June 19, 7:30 PM. The public is invited to attend this free event; doors open at 7:00 PM.

“This is the 12th year of A Cappella & Unplugged, and once again, the level of talent is incredible,” said Evan Crider, who currently coordinates Franklin County Visitors Bureau's annual talent competition and is a former participant. Each year, FCVB sponsors a series of open mic performances throughout Franklin County. Performers may be any age. Acts can be solo or groups–vocal or unplugged instrumental. Performers simply must be able to carry their instruments onstage. FCVB looks for lively and illuminating, performers, who inspire energy from the audience.

Coming out of four open mic events are 21 acts: Hunter Daugherty, Felisha Dimoff, Dog Sons, Thelma Edun, Hopeless Semantics, Alex Humphrey, Jack's Back, Jenni Joy, Josh & Chris, Brandon Lee, Tammy Lowans, Alivia Martz, Michael McKenzie, Noah Mellott, Leslie Metz, Neath, Suzanna Painter, Rhema Sirac, Scott Snyder, Lily Snowberger, and Mikela Wilsonne.

The IceFest open mic at the Franklin County 11/30 Visitors Center kicked off this year's event, followed by open mics at Triggers Table and Taproom in February, Hidden Key Brewing Co. in April, and Berg Brewing in May. The open mics attract performers from Franklin, Adams, and Cumberland Counties as well as the tristate area, showcasing regional talent and music's ability to bring people together.

At Round 1, a panel of judges evaluates and scores all the acts. The top six move onto the Finals. The audience selects the People's Choice winner, who receives $100 and passes on to the Finals also.  On July 18, the evening of 1864 Ransoming, Burning & Rebirth, finalists perform live on the steps of the Franklin County Courthouse, where the public votes for their favorite act. The top vote-getter wins $500 and the title of “A Cappella & Unplugged Champion.
