After taking the world by storm with a series of critically acclaimed tours, Windmill Theatre Co's family favourite Big Bad Wolf returns to Adelaide for an encore season these October school holidays.

One of Windmill's most popular shows ever, Big Bad Wolf has delighted children all over Australia since its 2013 premiere with seasons in Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, and last year toured for three months through the US and Canada.

Now Adelaide audiences have a chance to enjoy the fractured fairytale fun all over again from October 11 to 21 in the Space Theatre at the Adelaide Festival Centre. Suitable for children aged five and over, each performance of Big Bad Wolf is followed by free school holiday arts workshops in the foyer.

Big Bad Wolf longs for a friend, but his sharp teeth, yellow eyes and dubious personal hygiene mean no one wants to play with him. Luckily the over-achieving Heidi Hood is brave enough to double-check his bad press, and an unlikely friendship is born in this table-turning tale.

Featuring many of your favourite fairytale characters presented with playful modern twists, this hilarious new tale of "Wolfy" will have you wondering why you were so scared in the first place.

Director RoseMary Myers says: "Matthew Whittet is one of Australia's leading original voices, and the story he's created of a poetry writing 'vegemetarian' Wolf is equal parts hilarious and touching. It's a tale that reminds us all that great friendships can be found in the most unlikely of places."

Windmill favourite Patrick Graham stars as the toothy Wolfy, and is joined by Emma J Hawkins (Circus Oz, Love Never Dies) and Matilda Bailey (This is Where We Live). Harry Covill's original soundtrack is full of catchy tunes and Windmill's resident set designer Jonathon Oxlade (Beep, Pinocchio, Grug, School Dance) has played with perspective and created a set full of magic which includes a talking couch.

In 2018 Big Bad Wolf will again head overseas to tour New Zealand, as well as regional South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria, Sydney and regional New South Wales.

Big Bad Wolf runs at the Space Theatre at the Adelaide Festival Centre from October 11 to 21, with tickets starting from just $20. Bookings via BASS.net.au or call 131 246. More information at windmill.org.au.
