Amelia Ryan's latest cabaret offering, A Storm in A D Cup, is a sidesplittingly hilarious confession about her challenging journey through life. This is one of the most superbly written cabaret shows I have seen in recent years. Ryan has expertly re-worded and arranged several pieces of music in order to facilitate the telling of her story. One such highlight was a re-working of the Cell Block Tango from Chicago, complete with audience participation, which detailed her previous lovers and their shortcomings. Ryan describes herself as a good girl who has taken some bad paths; a lot of bad paths. It is this journey, however, that has provided her with the crazy material for this show, and sees her sing the most hysterical songs about everything from parking fines and broken cars, to uncoordinated exotic dancing, UTIs, and her gay father's transgender wife. Through all of this crazy hilarity, Ryan's evocative voice is very well backed by the talented David McEvoy on piano. This show is raunchy, emotional, crazy, and hilarious. Anybody who enjoys a good laugh should go to see it.
