Adelaide Festival Centre Presents AN EVENING WITH AMANDA PALMER

By:

Singer-songwriter and New York Times bestselling author and provocateur Amanda Palmer returns to Australia for her first ever 'An Evening With Amanda Palmer' styled national tour, performing at Her Majesty's Theatre from 24 & 25 February as part of Adelaide Fringe.

Following a tumultuous period of change including the birth of her son, the tragic deaths of close friends, a record-breaking Kickstarter campaign, and the release of her memoir The Art of Asking, Palmer's provocative art is captivatingly earnest and subversive as ever. Reaffirming her title as the queen of punk cabaret, Palmer's love affair with Australia continues as she takes the stage alone; journeying from musical beginnings and fan favourites through to the next surprising chapter;

"It's time: I am taking it back to basics," Amanda Palmer says. "I am going on a short, super-stripped down tour with just me, a suitcase, a piano, a ukulele, and a baby. Just Me. Piano. Songs. Some old songs, some new songs, lots of feelings, lots of ridiculousness. Certainly wine. Babies and piano and wine actually go together phenomenally", she says. "It's time to get back on stage and remind myself and everybody else that without the music, there's nothing. It drives me crazy when people have read my book three times cover to cover but don't bother to look up the music of The Dresden Dolls or dig into my songwriting catalogue. Time to fix that."

Amanda first came to prominence as one half of the internationally acclaimed punk cabaret duo The Dresden Dolls. Her album, Theatre is Evil debuted in the 'Billboard Top 10' when it was released on 11 September, 2012. It has been released in over 20 countries on her own label, 8ft Records.

Amanda was invited to present a 'TED Talk' at TED's 2013 Conference. To date, her talk, The Art of Asking has been viewed more than 7.7 million times worldwide. 2013 also saw the release of An Evening with Neil Gaiman & Amanda Palmer - a 3-CD collection of tracks culled from a live tour with her husband and best-selling author Neil Gaiman. 2014 found Amanda expanding her philosophy into a book after the success of her 'TED Talk'. The Art of Asking was released world-wide on 11 November and made the New York Times Best Seller List.

Piano Is Evil is Amanda's new album, made possible by over 8,500 people supporting Amanda via Patreon, the new crowd-funding/subscription service she uses to help propel the creation of her art. In advance of its public release in mid-2017, Piano Is Evil will be exclusively available only at her live shows on the Australian tour.
