On 17 August the Concert at Kent Town 2016 series presents two musicians who play very different instruments. Hannah Lewis, Flautist, performs a program of lilting, wafting, silvery sounds that reminds us that Spring isn't far away. University of Adelaide Associate Professor Gregory Crawford, Senior Consultant in Palliative Medicine and Director of Research and Education, reveals his other passion - playing pipe organ music.

Hannah is currently studying at Elder Conservatorium of Music, the University of Adelaide and is in her final year of performance studies. Under the tutelage of Associate Professor Elizabeth Koch AM and previously Linda Pirie, Hannah is also preparing for the Associate Diploma Exam. Apart from her flute studies, Hannah works closely with various community bands and has an avid passion for music education and journalism.

Hannah's program features a repertoire that accentuates the beautiful lyrical capabilities of the flute. Works by Bozza, Kuhlau and Busser especially exemplify high and fast passages infused with a singing nature for which the flute is well known. In constrast, the music by Telemann portrays a more sombre and darker tonal palate that audiences have grown to love. Hannah will be accompanied by pianist Judy-Anne Symons

Associate Professor Gregory Crawford initially learned pipe organ from Christa Rumsey at the Elder Conservatorium and has been the recipient of the Elder, the Harold Davies, the Howard Martin, and the Josephine Christiansen organ scholarships from the University of Adelaide.
He is currently having lessons with Peter Kelsall at Pilgrim Church, another student of Christa Rumsey's. Greg has piano performance diplomas, LTCL and A Mus A, learning from Joan Atkinson. He is a Palliative Medicine Physician and is currently the Director of Research and Education with Northern Adelaide Palliative Service and Associate Professor of Palliative Medicine at the University of Adelaide. For his performance, on the church's magnificent JE Dodd organ, Greg has chosen a program featuring JS Bach, HerBert Howells and Olivier Messiaen.

Concerts at Kent Town for 2016 continues each month with performances by: Tasso Bouyessis, Tenor and Graham Bell, Organist; Robert Dawe, Bass Baritone and Damien Mansfield, Organist/pianist; Janet Anderson, Violinist and Andrew Ampt, Organist.
