Civic Theatre School Screens Away We Go, Samantha Pryor To Lead Talk-back 6/27
One of the most talked-about films of the summer features a 14-year old Lehigh Valley resident, and she's coming to Civic Theatre of Allentown to talk about her experiences on set. Samantha Pryor of Slatington plays Ashley in Away We Go, the latest offering from Academy Award-winning director Sam Mendes starring John Krasinski (The Office) and Maya Rudolph (Saturday Night Live). A former student of Civic Theatre School, Samantha will be in attendance at Civic's 4:30 showing of Away We Go on Saturday, June 27th, and will take questions afterwards on what it was like to work with Mendes and the two stars of the film.
Samantha's previous film appearances include: M. Night Shyamalan's The Village and Stephen King's Suffer the Little Children. Her television appearances include performing a memorable comedy act during season 1 of NBC's America's Got Talent, where she squeaked her ears to the Blue Danube waltz. Other television appearances include roles on Medstar Television's Forensic Files, CBS's Love Monkey, and as "Justin's friend" for ABC's Ugly Betty. Samantha has appeared on stage in Civic's 2005 production of A Christmas Carol, and also Northern Lehigh High School's 2009 production of Guys and Dolls.
Samantha is represented by Renate English, Friendly Faces Talent Management, in New Jersey.
Civic Theatre opens Away We Go on Friday, June 26th at 8pm. Civic Theatre of Allentown is the Lehigh Valley's home for professionally-produced and community-minded live theatre, the only source for year-round independent, foreign and arthouse cinema, and the area's most prestigious children's theatre school. "Bringing in Samantha to discuss her role in Away We Go is one of those great instances where everything Civic does comes together," says Civic Managing Director Arlene Daily, "we're glad to have her come in."
