This summer Theatreworks USA, the nation's leading not-for-profit professional theatre for young audiences, presents the Off-Broadway Premiere of Junie B.'s Essential Survival Guide to School. Performances began Wednesday July 20th at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, between Bleecker and Hudson Streets). The Annual Opening Night Benefit is tonight, July 27th (6:30 PM). The new musical, A SCYTHE OF TIME is being†presented as part of the New York Musical Theatre festival at the June Havoc Theatre (312 W 36th Street). A SCYTHE OF TIME†is written by Alan Harris with music and lyrics by Mark Alan Swanson. It will be directed by David Alpert (IF/THEN), with musical direction by Ryan Cantwell (National Tour: Pippin, Finding Neverland). Longtime songwriting team MARCY HEISLER (Author/Lyricist) and ZINA GOLDRICH (Composer) are set to make their 2014 Broadway debut with EVER AFTER, directed by Kathleen Marshall and produced by Kevin McCollum, Scott Landis and Philip Morgaman. They were the first women ever honored with the Fred Ebb Award for Musical Theatre Songwriting, and Heisler was awarded the 2012 Kleban Prize for Outstanding Lyrics. (more...)
