The Met celebrates the new year with a new production of Bizet's Carmen by acclaimed English director Carrie Cracknell, opening on Sunday, December 31, at 6:30PM. In her highly anticipated Met debut, Cracknell reinvigorates the classic story of deadly passion with a staging that moves the action to modern day and explores themes that could not be more relevant today: gendered violence, abusive labor structures, and the desire to break through societal boundaries.

The upcoming Broadway production of WATER FOR ELEPHANTS has dropped the first original song from the show’s composers, PigPen Theatre Co. The songwriting team of WATER FOR ELEPHANTS performs “Anywhere” in this new music video.

The Board of Trustees of the Entertainment Community Fund (formerly The Actors Fund), voted Annette Bening as the new Chair of the Board. She now steps into her new role as Chair of the Board, succeeding Brian Stokes Mitchell, who held the position of Chair since 2004. In this video, Mitchell reflects on his time spent as Chairman and speaks to what comes next!

Earlier this week, SCHOOL OF ROCK - THE MUSICAL hosted the Shubert Foundation High School Theatre Festival for New York City Public Schools at the Winter Garden Theatre. Alex Brightman emceed the event, which featured five outstanding high school student productions from the 2015-2016 school year.
