David Gordon's DANCING HENRY FIVE Opens at Peak Performances, 10/6-9David Gordon's DANCING HENRY FIVE Opens at Peak Performances, 10/6-9
by BWW News Desk - Oct 9, 2011

David Gordon has the rare gift of slyly slipping profound commentary into what appears a wacky good time. Example: 'DANCING HENRY FIVE,' which will be revived after four years at Peak Performances, October 6-9. Using physical staging, movie, music and select bits of Shakespeare's own language, this severely condensed version (from five hours to one hour) of the Bard's anti-war play takes on contemporary relevance through its veiled, and sometimes not-so-veiled, allusions to present day politics, love and war, proving some things never change. Active Investors Favor a Qualitative Approach to Managing Their PortfolioActive Investors Favor a Qualitative Approach to Managing Their Portfolio
by BWW News Desk - Feb 11, 2014

“When Push Comes to Shove, active investors use fundamentals over technical indicators,” said George Fischer, Vice President of Trading, Margin Lending and Cash Management at E*TRADE. “That said, having more tools in your toolbox is better than having fewer — and in building a portfolio you want to use them together. It's like the old saying 'measure twice; cut once.' If you study a security through both fundamental and technical lenses your chances of making the right decision will only increase.” (more...)

The Ballet I Did Not See in 2012The Ballet I Did Not See in 2012
by Barnett Serchuk - Dec 26, 2012

2012 did not bring the two works I've been anticipating for years: choreography to Schubert's Fifth Symphony and Haydn's Symphony no. 100, also known as the Military. I'll probably never get to see them but since it's the end of 2012 I can keep dreaming. Every year I read about choreographers and dance companies commissioning new music from conservatories, graduate schools or established composers. Sometimes (but rarely) it's good, most times forgettable (I am sure that I hear rumblings already.) So I'm putting in my two cents for Schubert and Haydn, both of whom have had works choreographed to their music, but not my particular symphonies. (more...)
