After a 48 year absence, Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) presents the first new Broadway production of Bye Bye Birdie as the inaugural production of the new Henry Miller's Theatre (124 West 43rd Street) beginning Thursday, September 10th, 2009 with an official opening on Thursday, October 15th, 2009. New Museum Announces a New Seasonal Approach to Public Programming Exploring Ideas Over Time Through Multi-Platform Dialogues

Spearheaded by the New Museum's Department of Education and Public Engagement, R&D (Research and Development) Seasons will connect various projects in the galleries, Theater, and Resource Center around a new organizing theme each fall and spring. The inaugural fall 2013 R&D Season theme is Archives. Programming will be presented in the form of exhibitions, performances, screenings, artist residencies, online publications, an after-school program for teens, and family day activities. Artists will engage across many of these initiatives to realize projects that take multiple forms. The fall Archives Season explores archival forms, systems, processes, and concerns across a broad range of contemporary art and curatorial practices. (more...)

This is it, Gleeks! After two years of hard work, New Directions is taking on Nationals - and in the Big Apple, of all places. Those little town blues are melting away, and New Directions is hoping that New York, New York will make their dreams come true. The New Directions are ready to take New York by storm, but Mr. Schuester confines them to their rooms to write the two original songs for Nationals. With the kids confined to their room, Will goes to check out the theater where April's show is playing. However, after Brittany performs a song entitled 'My Cup', Quinn suggests they let New York write the songs for them, leading them out of their rooms into the city where dreams come true. The kids take to the streets with a mash-up of 'I Love New York' by Madonna and 'New York, New York' by Frank Sinatra. (more...)

Museum of the Moving Image's First PANORAMA EUROPE Festival Set for 4/4-13

Museum of the Moving Image and The European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) will present Panorama Europe, from Friday, April 4 through Sunday, April 13, a showcase of 17 contemporary European feature films and one program of short films. Known as Disappearing Act for its first five years, the newly re-named festival continues the mission of showcasing vital European filmmaking as distribution remains challenging for foreign language films in the United States. Panorama Europe gives New York audiences access to what may be their only chance to see these acclaimed films from the festival circuit on the big screen or at all. This year's festival will take place at Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria and at the Bohemian National Hall in Manhattan. In all the chaos, a protestor outside the courthouse is run over and killed by the getaway car, and later a video surfaces of Gerry being killed. But was it possible he faked his own death?
