Nicola and Managing Director William Russo previously announced that Kathleen Chalfant will lead the cast of NYTW's production of Red Dog Howls, written by Alexander Dinelaris. New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) Artistic Director James C. Nicola and Managing Director William Russo have announced that Red Dog Howls, written by Alexander Dinelaris and directed by Ken Rus Schmoll, begins performances tonight at 7pm at NYTW, 79 East 4 Street, between Bowery and Second Avenue. Opening night is scheduled for Monday, September 24 at 7pm. Award-winning actress Kathleen Chalfant (Angels in America, Wit) returns to New York Theatre Workshop in a landmark role, joining Florencia Lozano and Alfredo Narciso in the cast of this New York premiere. Producers Broadway Across America (John Gore, Thomas B. McGrath, Beth Williams), Howard Kagan and Barry Brown have just announced that the new Broadway musical TUCK EVERLASTING will have its pre-Broadway world premiere at Boston's Citi Performing Arts Center Colonial Theatre (106 Boylston Street) in June of 2013. With a book by Tony Award nominee Claudia Shear (Dirty Blonde), music by Chris Miller (The Burnt Part Boys), lyrics by Nathan Tysen (The Burnt Part Boys) and directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon), TUCK EVERLASTING is based on the novel by Natalie Babbitt. As of March 28, 2012, NYTW will have two shows running on Broadway: Once, which opened on March 18 at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre to superb reviews, and Peter and the Starcatcher, which begins previews March 28 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. Additionally, Rent, which originated at NYTW, is enjoying a successful off-Broadway revival at New World Stages. Both Once and Rent received their world premieres at NYTW, while NYTW presented the New York premiere of Peter and the Starcatcher. (more...)

Bacharach Reimagined, with musical arrangements by Kyle Riabko and directed by Steven Hoggett; Fetch Clay, Make Man written by Will Power and directed by Des McAnuff; and Love and Information written by Caryl Churchill and directed by James Macdonald. New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) Artistic Director James C. Nicola and Managing Director William Russo have announced that performances begin tonight for the New York premiere of Belleville, written by Amy Herzog and directed by Anne Kauffman, at NYTW, 79 East 4 Street, between Bowery and Second Avenue. La Jolla Playhouse announces a new play development initiative, the DNA New Work Series, entailing a six-week period of workshop productions and public readings of new plays and musicals, taking place January 24 through March 3, 2013. The focus of the DNA New Work Series is to allow playwrights and directors the opportunity to develop a script by providing rehearsal time, space and resources, culminating in a workshop production or public reading. New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) has announced that its 2014/15 season will include the U.S. premiere of Scenes from a Marriage written by Ingmar Bergman, adapted by Emily Mann and directed by Ivo van Hove; the New York premiere of The Invisible Hand, written by Ayad Akhtar and directed by Ken Rus Schmoll; and the New York premiere of Forever, writtenand performed by Dael Orlandersmith and directed by Neel Keller.
