Tick, tick... BOOM! is Larson’s semi-autobiographical story of Jon, an aspiring composer anxiously approaching his 30th birthday. Jon’s girlfriend wants to get married and leave New York for a more conventional life, his best friend is earning a fortune on Madison Avenue, and Jon is still waiting on tables while trying to create the great American musical. An inspiring story of a struggling artist who chooses to follow his dreams, tick, tick... BOOM! features a dynamic pop-rock score blended with traditional musical theater styles, in what many believe to be Larson’s homage to Stephen Sondheim.
"Tick Tock Boom Clap", a feature-length romantic dramedy starring Melissa Fahn (Wicked/Vox Lumiere) and Sam Zeller (Cathy Rigby's Peter Pan), will be screening at the Laemmle Music Hall 3 in Beverly Hills on August 20th at 7:30pm.

Happy Birthday, Neil Patrick Harris! A veteran of the theater, Harris recently tackled the role of Bobby in the New York Philharmonic's production of Stephen Sondheim's "Company" at Lincoln Center. Harris made his Broadway debut in the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama "Proof," and subsequently starred on the Great White Way as the Emcee in "Cabaret," and as The Balladeer/Lee Harvey Oswald in the Tony Award-winning production of "Assassins." His additional theater credits include roles in "All My Sons," "Tick, Tick... Boom," "The Paris Letter," "Sweeney Todd," "Rent" and "Romeo and Juliet." Harris made his theatrical directorial debut with "I Am Grock" at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood. Additionally, he directed a production of Jonathan Larson's "Rent" at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, and more recently he helmed a production of "The Expert at the Card Table" at the Broad Stage Theater.

El musical de Stephen Sondheim clausura así esta primera etapa en el Teatro Español mientras que el espectáculo de Jonathan Larson producido por Tela-Katola se despide hoy por segunda vez de la capital en el Teatro Arlequín.

Hoy se estrena en el Teatro Arlequín la producción española de 'Tick, tick... BOOM!' de la mano de Tela-Katola, protagonizado por Jorge Gonzalo como Jon, Laura Castrillón - ganadora del Premio BWW Spain a la Mejor Actriz Revelación 2011 - como Susan y David Tortosa como Michael, y en esta ocasión tan especial nuestro ilustrador Asier Sancho dedica su particular Stage Art al musical de Jonathan Larson.
It is a rare enough occurrence for a genuine born and bred Broadway star to emerge post-millennium, but one as astonishingly versatile as Raul Esparza, having scored accolades since his blazing debut in a string of hit plays and musicals, ranging from Mamet and Sondheim and Pinter to CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG and his aforementioned Broadway bow in THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, is a downright cause for celebration. Esparza makes his grand return to the Broadway stage in a musical with his upcoming starring role in Alan Menken & Glenn Slater's adaptation of the Steve Martin film LEAP OF FAITH, featuring a country and gospel influenced score and a spirited, energetic production by Christopher Ashley (who, incidentally, helmed Esparza's first Broadway show, ROCKY HORROR). While Esparza has been seen in many - most, if not quite all - Broadway seasons in the decade since 2001, he has also scored in leading roles in regional productions such as 2002's spectacular SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE and MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG revivals, part of the unprecedented Sondheim Celebration, as well as the Cincinnati Playhouse COMPANY, directed by John Doyle, which transferred to Broadway and was subsequently preserved on DVD and Blu-ray, in addition to being presented on PBS as part of Great Performances. Besides Esparza's many notable musical revival performances (lest we forget his essaying of the Emcee in CABARET), he also created the Broadway iterations of his roles in the controversial and brilliantly scored TABOO, produced by Rosie O'Donnell and composed by Boy George, as well as the stage adaptation of the hit family classic CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG, as well as originating the lead role in TICK, TICK...BOOM! Having played three of Sondheim's most memorable male roles was not enough, though, apparently, for Esparza recently took on the part of the hapless Hapgood in Sondheim's ANYONE CAN WHISTLE when it was revived at City Center's Encores! - with Tony-winners Donna Murphy and Sutton Foster his co-stars, no less - with much success. Yet, in one of a myriad of examples of the broad spectrum of Esparza's abilities, it is instructive to remember he first made a name for himself with the role of Che in an Andrew Lloyd Webber & Tim Rice show, directed by no less than the ultimate man of the theatre himself, Harold Prince - EVITA, which, of course, is being revived this season with Ricky Martin in the role of Che. Besides Esparza's many musical roles throughout the past decade and prior, he has also carved out a seriously impressive straight drama resume, having appeared in plays by the great playwrights of our age, such as Pinter (THE HOMECOMING), Mamet (SPEED-THE-PLOW), Stoppard (ARCADIA) and, the greatest of all, Shakespeare (AS YOU LIKE IT, part of Shakespeare In The Park). ROCKY HORROR to ARCADIA to, now, with LEAP OF FAITH, Esparza constantly and consistently surprises fans and audiences alike with his audacious choice in roles and electrifying performances that are indelibly enjoyable in their uniqueness, variety and sheer breadth of emotion - time and time again. Yes, indeed, Raul Esparza is the best of the best Broadway has to offer, so let us hope LEAP OF FAITH is the ideal star vehicle for one of the most charismatic and multi-talented leading men of the 21st century and that it brings him his well-deserved Best Actor Tony at last.

Esta producción, protagonizada por Jorge Gonzalo como Jon, David Tortosa como Michael y la ganadora del premio BWW Spain 2011 Laura Castrillón como Susan, se estrenó el verano pasado en el hall del Teatro Lara, y ahora podrá verse todos los miércoles a las 20h y domingos a las 21.30h.
La producción de Stage y Cameron Mackintosh ha obtenido 11 galardones. Chicago, Tick, Tick... Boom!, Shrek, Érase una vez y Póker de Voces también han sido premiados.
Debido al gran éxito obtenido por el musical, llenando el hall del Teatro Lara de Madrid cada día, Tick, Tick… Boom! permanecerá en cartel dos días más: el próximo sábado 30 y el domingo 21 de julio. Eso sí, se trata de los dos últimos días puesto que, después de estos dos días, la función es improrrogable.
Tela-Katola presenta tick, tick... BOOM!, la obra autobiográfica de Jonathan Larson (autor de Rent), en el Off del Teatro Lara del 14 al 24 de Julio. El hall del Teatro Lara de Madrid se convirtió durante 90 minutos en un pequeño piso de Nueva York, una oficina, una azotea, un coche, un lujoso apartamento… Todo ello gracias al ingenio de un gran montaje y al ritmo de las canciones de Jonathan Larson, el autor del famoso musical Rent.
