May 1822, rural Ireland. The defrocked Reverend Berkeley arrives at the crumbling former glory of Mount Prospect House to accompany seventeen-year-old Hannah to England. She is to be married off to a Marquis in order to resolve the debts of her mother’s estate. However, compelled by the strange voices that haunt his beautiful young charge and a fascination with the psychic current that pervades the house, Berkeley proposes a séance, the consequences of which are catastrophic.
She says that sometimes, while she plays the piano, she can hear someone… singing. Or crying. I forget which.
Set around a haunted house hemmed in by a restive, starving populace, Conor McPherson’s new play weaves Ireland’s troubled colonial history into a transfixing story about the search for love, the transcendental and the circularity of time. His last production for the National was the Tony Award-winning The Seafarer.

La Source, a ballet in two acts, features choreography by Jean-Guillaume Bart and music by Leo Delibes and Ludwig Minkus. It will be shown in HD from the Paris Opera Ballet at The Palais Garnier today, August 26th, 11:00 a.m. EST. Running time is 136 minutes, plus one intermission. The broadcast was captured live at the November 4, 2011, performance.

Symphony of Shadows merges striking elements of circus & aerial arts, dance & movement, burlesque & operatic productions to vividly illustrate its storyline in a genre-defying form which "evokes a live-action silent film." Symphony of Shadows was commissioned by Dixon Place as a world premiere as part of the theater's Monde Cane original works series.

The show will feature performances from previously-announced hosts Jason Graae (recipient of the 2007 Joel Hirschhorn Award for outstanding achievement in musical theatre) and Lesli Margherita (nominee for Kiss Me, Kate). In addition, the Awards show will feature the Los Angeles premiere performance of My Husband, by Paul Rudnick, a short play added to the New York production of Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays. Also, Yvette Tucker and Salvatore Vasallo will perform an excerpt from "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue," from On Your Toes, choreographed by this year's Hirschhorn Award recipient, Lee Martino.
