The Old Globe Announces 2011-12 Winter Season

Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced that The Old Globe will produce the World Premieres of four new plays and musicals in its 2011-12 Winter Season.

Target Margin Theater (David Herskovits, Artistic Director) presents the final production of its 20th Anniversary Season, Shakespeare's classic tale, The Tempest. Under the direction of David Herskovits, the cast features Clare Barron as Miranda,Purva Bedi as Sebastian, James Tigger! Ferguson as Antonio, Yehuda Hyman as Gonzalo, Mia Katigbak as King Alonso, Meg MacCary as Stephano, Nana Mensah as Ariel, Mary Neufeld as Caliban, Hubert Point-Du Jour as Ferdinand, Steven Rattazzi as Prospero, and J.H. Smith III as Trinculo.

To introduce 3-6 year olds to Shakespeare, former Children's Laureate Michael Rosen has written THE MAGICIAN'S DAUGHTER. This gentle 40 minute play is directed by Peter Glanville and is produced in association with the Royal Shakespeare Company. It runs from 28 May to 10 July with its press showing on 4 June at 3.30pm

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Interim Executive Director Joey Parnes) is currently rehearsing the Shakespeare in the Park summer season featuring MEASURE FOR MEASURE, directed by David Esbjornson, and ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL, directed by Daniel Sullivan, running in repertory June 6 - July 30 at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Recognizing excellence in high school theater, auditions for the 2011 Globe Honors competition will take place May 7-9 at The Old Globe. Semifinalists and finalists will perform in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center, on May 16 at 7:00 p.m. The evening will conclude with the announcement of the Globe Honors winners and an award ceremony.

Marcia Seligson, Bob Klein, and Linda Shusett are the Executive Producers of the annual festival, now in its fourth year. This year's Festival includes 16 world premieres, and an additional 10 west coast premieres.
