Annie Baker has just concluded a highly successful run of her play, Circle Mirror Transformation, at Playwrights Horizons. Her first play, Body Awareness, was produced at the Atlantic Theater Company this past year.

North Coast Repertory Theatre Presents Student One Act Festival 5/14-16

Four young people, ranging in age from 11 to 16, met the challenge of writing, directing and producing their own plays for the 2010 One Act Festival at the North Coast Repertory Theatre in Solana Beach. The One Act Festival will be presented on May 14-16. The plays include: 'A Walk in the Park' by Peter Lillian; 'Super Pi' by Joelle Leib; 'Who's on Alpha?' by theatre school director Matt Thompson; 'The Purple Peach and the Punctuated People' by ; and 'Revived Hearts' by Kari Benirschke.

Yesterday evening, May 10, the Algonquin Hotel hosted the 75th Annual New York Drama Critics' Circle Award ceremony honoring the best of the 2009-2010 theatre season. This year's honorees included casts and creative teams of The Orphans' Home Cycle, Fences, Circle Mirror Transformation, The Aliens; Viola Davis, Annie Baker, and Hallie Foote. Presenters included Denzel Washington, who presented the Award for Sustained Achievement to his Fence's co-star Viola Davis, Tony Kushner and Marian Seldes.

Rockwell Joins Craig in 'Cowboys and Aliens' Film

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sam Rockwell is joining the cast of DreamWorks' new film, Cowboys and Aliens, directed by Jon Favreau. The film will be the second collaboration between Rockwell and Favreau, the first being Iron Man 2, out in theaters this Friday, May 7.

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater announced today that its critically-acclaimed production of The Aliens, by Annie Baker, will play five (5) additional performances through Saturday, May 29th. Performances began on Wednesday, April 14th, 2010 and the show officially opened on Thursday, April 22nd. Originally scheduled to run through May 23rd, the show will now play through Saturday, May 29, 2010.

Boston Theater Companies Collaborate to Produce Works of Annie Baker, 10/15-11/20

Three Boston theatre companies will engage in a landmark local collaboration this fall to produce breakout writer Annie Baker's first three plays - CIRCLE MIRROR TRANSFORMATION, produced by the Huntington Theatre Company (October 15 - November 14), BODY AWARENESS, produced by SpeakEasy Stage Company (October 22 - November 20), and THE ALIENS, produced by Company One (October 29 - November 20). The 2010 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, the most prestigious award given annually to women playwrights, has been awarded to American playwright Julia Cho for her play 'The Language Archive.' Ms. Cho received the honor at a private reception in New York City on Wednesday, March 3. The award of $20,000 and a signed and numbered print by artist Willem de Kooning were presented to Ms. Cho by Tony Award-winning director Doug Hughes, one of the distinguished judges for the 2010 Blackburn Prize.
