500 Clown Theater, a Chicago non-profit that believes 'life is worth the risk,' presents '500 Clown and the Elephant Deal' - a musical missile aimed at the tenuous border between fiction and reality - as part of Steppenwolf Theatre Company's Visiting Company Initiative. Run time will be approximately 90 minutes, and post-show discussions will follow Wednesday and Thursday performances (free with paid ticket).
St. Louis Shakespeare celebrates its 25th year presenting the finest classical theatre. The Cliplight Theater and Theatre at Saint Clement's will present Levittown, written by Marc Palmieri and directed by George Demas, beginning Wednesday, July 8 at 8pm at Theatre at Saint Clement's, 423 West 46th Street. The opening night is set for Monday, July 13 at 8pm. Levittown had a developmental workshop in the summer of 2006 at Axis Theatre Company, directed by Mr. Demas.

Renowned director David McVicar makes his Met debut, and Gianandrea Noseda conducts a cast that includes Marcelo ?lvarez in his first Met performances of the heroic title role, and three singers who are celebrated interpreters of their parts: Sondra Radvanovsky as Leonora, Dolora Zajick as Azucena, and Dmitri Hvorostovsky as Count di Luna. Kwangchul Youn makes his Met role debut as Ferrando. In later performances, Marco Berti is Manrico; Hasmik Papian is Leonora; Luciana D'Intino is Azucena, ?eljko Lučić is di Luna, and Burak Bilgili is Ferrando, conducted by Riccardo Frizza. Eight new productions, four of which are company premieres, will highlight the Metropolitan Opera's 2009-10 season. General Manager Peter Gelb and Music Director James Levine jointly announced plans that include: the Met premieres of Rossini's Armida, Verdi's Attila, Jan?ček's From the House of the Dead, and Shostakovich's The Nose; new productions of Bizet's Carmen, Offenbach's Les Contes d'Hoffmann, Thomas's Hamlet, and Puccini's Tosca; and 18 revivals from the company's repertory. The season is the first to be entirely planned under Gelb's leadership, in collaboration with Levine (the past three seasons were planned before Gelb became General Manager in 2006-07 but included some productions, repertoire, and casting changes made by Gelb).

Presenting familiar stories from Genesis - the creation of the world, Adam and Eve in Eden, jealousy and murder among brothers, the world's destruction by water - In the Beginning offers a fresh retelling of age-old tales interspersed with engaging dialogue taken directly from conversations with local community members and respected religious scholars about the text.
'In the Beginning does not present a single, definitive interpretation of the stories we find in Genesis,' Moriarty says. 'Rather, it is a reflection of the conversations we've had with people of faith throughout our community about the text and the personal truths and insights they've found through their own explorations into these stories.'

The production features a new adaptation by Christopher Shinn and will be directed by Ian Rickson.
