Westport's Summer In The House Camp Registration Now Open, Runs 7/6-7/24

Registration is underway for Westport Country Playhouse's three-week summer camp called 'Summer in the House,' for students entering grades two through five, Monday, July 6 through Friday, July 24. Also available is a three-day Improvisation Bootcamp for ages 16 and up, Monday, June 29 through Wednesday, July 1. The programs are offered through the Playhouse's education department. Classes are located on the Playhouse campus.

Pittsburgh International Children's Festival Runs 5/13-17

The Pittsburgh International Children's Festival, a division of The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, will present the 23rd annual festival May 13-17, 2009, in various venues throughout the city's university district of Oakland. The Festival is currently one of only four international theater festivals for children in the United States. Featured Children's Festival performance sites include Charity Randall Theatre, Studio Theatre, Bellefield Hall Auditorium, Synod Hall and Carnegie Lecture Hall. The Festival grounds, free to the public, will complement the featured performances with hands-on cultural and educational activities, roving artists, booths, and exhibitors. The Target Community Stage returns this year as the center of outdoor Festival activities. The stage features a lively mix of professional artists and regional performance groups.

Four hunters, lost in the Canadian woods, begin losing their minds and battling a gigantic, unseen creature in this adaptation of Algernon Blackwood's classic tale of supernatural horror. One of Blackwood's best stories is the magnificent THE WENDIGO, written in 1908. On the surface, this is a classic story of man versus nature but on a spiritual level the story forces us to question our position and purpose in the universe, to wonder if perhaps there are some places, as the narrator says, that 'no human foot was meant to trod.'
