Author-illustrator Trina Paulus and Vook are pleased to announce the digital release of the classic inspirational book for adults and children alike Hope for the Flowers, 42 years after the book's publication. Hope for the Flowers, published by Paulist Press in 1972, has sold over 3 million copies and is a beloved favorite of readers around the world. The 160 page illustrated story expresses Trina's vision of hope and a world of cooperation. For the first time, Hope for the Flowers will be available in ebook form, allowing more readers to share in the story of its caterpillar heroes, Stripe and Yellow.
'I am thrilled Stripe and Yellow can reach more millions. Our world needs their message. If enough dare 'risk for a butterfly' and fly, we can carry the healing pollen of peace and hope with justice to flowers everywhere,' says Trina on her decision to publish digitally. 'A digital version is not held back by the physical limits of print and can help Hope further cross all boundaries.'
The book tells the inspiring story of a young caterpillar struggling to find his way in a self made pillar of caterpillars that defines his society's competitive nature. Trina conceived of Hope and illustrated and created the book after being evacuated from Egypt during the Six-Day War in 1967. Trina personally oversaw the conversion of the original book into the digital format, illustrating and adapting every page to render the best experience across all the major devices.
'Hope for the Flowers is a favorite childhood book of members of the Vook team. We were impressed to see that Trina had overseen the creation of a note-perfect digital experience of the book. We're eager to deliver this book to the new generation of digital readers,' says Matt Cavnar, Vook Co-Founder and Publisher.
Hope for the Flowers is currently available for purchase on Amazon and iBooks for $7.99.
