Drama Learning Center's professional training program for emerging young artists will present the area premiere of Cry-Baby the Musical this June. Adapted from the cult classic 1990 John Waters film, Cry-Baby follows the star-crossed teen romance between delinquent Wade "Cry-Baby" Walker and the rich and square Allison Vernon-Williams in 1950's Baltimore. Recently, local photographer Bruce F Press went on location to Clark's Elioak Farm to capture images around the original Enchanted Forest attractions. Scroll down for a sneak peek at the stars in character!

Cherry Lane Theatre's Founder's Project will celebrate 100 years of Horton Foote as they present, in a co-production with La Femme Theatre Productions, The Traveling Lady, directed by Austin Pendleton. The Traveling Lady will begin performances tonight, June 7, and will open on June 22 running through July 16, 2017 at Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce St.) in Greenwich Village.

CASA 0101 Theater, Josefina Lopez, Artistic Director and the newly formed production company, Angel City Theater Ensemble (ACTE), Vance Valencia, Founder, will present the Los Angeles Premiere of the critically acclaimed play, MARIELA IN THE DESERT, written by Karen Zacarias, directed by Robert Beltran (Star Trek:  Voyager; Zoot Suit; Eating Raoul).  The production will be presented for a five-week run on the theater's Main Stage located at 2102 East First Street (at St. Louis Street), Boyle Heights, CA  90033 on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and on Sundays at 5:00 p.m., November 4 - December 11, 2016.  There will be no performances on Thanksgiving Weekend, November 25th, 26th and 27th.

This summer marks another historic milestone for the annual Bard SummerScape festival. For the first time since its founding, this season's focus is on the music and culture of Italy, with seven weeks of music, opera,theater, dance, film, and cabaret keyed to the theme of the 27th Bard Music Festival, "Puccini and His World." This intensive examination of the life and times of Giacomo Puccini opens a window onto Italy's rich musical heritage from Palestrina to Menotti, by way of the most popular and successful - yet, paradoxically, frequently critically underrated - opera composer of all time. Complementing the music festival, some of the Tuscan master's most compelling compatriots provide other key SummerScape highlights.
