FIVE GUYS NAMED MOE, take over the Grandel Stage on March 24th The Black Rep opens the third mainstage production of Season 33. The show features the music of legendary horn player Louis Jordan. Lead character Nomax, whose girlfriend has left him and who is without money, finds Big Moe, Four-Eyed Moe, Eat Moe, No Moe, and Little Moe emerging from his 1930's-style radio to comfort him. They sing the hit songs of songwriter and saxophonist Louis Jordan, whose new slant on jazz paved the way for rock and roll in the 1950s.
Marge Rivingston, the renowned singing teacher of performers like Bette Midler, Maureen McGovern, Robby Benson, Robert DeNiro, Christine Ebersole, Linda Ronstadt, Harry Groener and Meryl Streep, will be conducting a Mini Master Class in Singing and sign copies of her new book, 'Do You Hear What I Hear? Writers' Theatre Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and Executive Director Kathryn M. Lipuma announce the second extension of Oh Coward!, words and music by Noel Coward, devised by Roderick Cook. The production, which began its run in November 2009 is directed by Jim Corti, with musical direction by Doug Peck. The production has been extended through April 18, 2010, at Writers' Theatre, 664 Vernon Avenue in Glencoe.

S. Eliot's profound exploration of self deception and redemption, at a special event titled 'A T.S. Eliot Cocktail: An Evening of Scenes and Poetry' to be held on Tuesday, March 2nd at 7PM at Barnes & Noble (2289 Broadway @ 82nd Street).
Dmitri Shostakovich's The Nose has its Metropolitan Opera premiere on March 5 at 8:00 pm, conducted by Valery Gergiev, in a visually arresting new production by artist William Kentridge that features original collage, film, sculpture, and massive projections of the artist's drawings and prints. Making his Met debut, baritone Paulo Szot performs the role of Kovalyov in the story of the Russian official who wakes one morning to discover his nose has disappeared (and taken on a higher bureaucratic rank). Based on the short story of the same name by Nikolai Gogol, the opera is what Kentridge has called an exploration of "learning from the absurd." In this production, visuals include renderings of Soviet workers, snatches of newspaper, and projections of propaganda - as well as the missing appendage in adventures ranging from delivering a speech to riding a horse.
