BETRAYAL originally premiered at London's National Theatre in 1978 and was immediately hailed as one of Pinter's masterworks, winning the 1979 Olivier Award for Best New Play. Emma is married to Robert, a publisher, but she has long had an affair with Jerry, a literary agent and Robert's best friend; as, in a brilliant device, time is regained, so the full complexity of their relationships comes to light.

Full casting has been announced for the Royal Court's JOHN MORTIMER AT THE COURT...AND LATER AT THE BAR. The cast will include Broadway stars Jeremy Irons, Alan Rickman, and Harriet Walter. Further casting includes Sinead Cusack, Joanna David, Edward Fox, Tom Hollander, Richard Johnson, Emily Mortimer, Alessandro Nivola, and Dominic West. The evening will be curated by Stephen Jeffreys and Nina Raine will direct. The evening will take place November 15th.

Judgment Day will run at the Almeida from 3 September - 17 October 2009, with press night on 10 September. Set designs are by Miriam Buether with costume design is by Moritz Junge, lighting by Neil Austin, sound by Chris Shutt and music by Matthew Herbert.
