Show Description:

Shrek The Musical is based on the story and characters from William Steig's book Shrek!, as well as the DreamWorks Animation film Shrek, the first chapter of the popular movie series. It features book and lyrics by Pulitzer Prize-winner David Lindsay-Abaire, and music by Jeanine Tesori. Jason Moore directs, with choreography by Josh Prince.
In order to regain his peaceful neighborhood, a fearsome ogre makes a deal with the wanna-be king to rescue his intended, a damsel in distress. But surprises are in store in this funny, fractured fairy tale.
The cast includes stars Tony Award nominee Brian d'Arcy James as Shrek, Tony Award winner Sutton Foster as Princess Fiona, Tony Award nominee Christopher Sieber as Lord Farquaad, Tony Award nominee Daniel Breaker as Donkey and Tony Award nominee John Tartaglia as Pinocchio.

Photos: 'Bathrooms Over Broadway' Benefit

Today, December 29, Charmin teamed up with non-profit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS to present "Bathrooms over Broadway," the first-ever Broadway show in a bathroom. The 10-15 minute "cheeky" musical production took place, free-of-charge, before a live audience at the Charmin Restrooms featuring the theatrics of several well-known Broadway stars, including "Shrek the Musical's" Christopher Sieber. Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS presented the 21st Annual GYPSY OF THE YEAR COMPETITION over a two day event yesterday, December 7 and today, December 8 at the Palace Theatre on Broadway. The proceeds from the event benefit BC/EFA. This year's event raised more than $4,639,000 dollars. And the winners are in!

The cast and crew of SHREK THE MUSICAL®, the Tony Award®-winning production, celebrated the show's one year anniversary on Broadway with a reception on stage at the Broadway Theatre on Sunday, November 8th after the matinee performance. Cupcakes were provided to the cast by CRUMBS Bake Shop. The production also said goodbye to original "SHREK" star Brian d'Arcy James who played his final performance in the title role yesterday as well. (more...)
