  3. Delaware County Symphony Chamber Concert

The Delaware County Symphony (DCS) presents the first performance of its Chamber Concert Series for the 2015-2016 season on Sunday September 20, 2015 at 3 p.m. in the Meagher Theatre of the Thomas A Bruder, Jr. Life Center at Neumann University, Aston, Pa.

This concert features Trio No. 1 in B Flat Major for Violin, Viola, and Cello by Franz Schubert. Here is Schubert at his best composing with light hearted youthful optimism and self confidence offering us exquisite overflowing melodies written specifically for strings. Included in this concert is Serenade in D Major for Flute, Violin, and Viola, Op. 25 by Ludwig van Beethoven. He clearly understands the technical versatility of the flute and in this composition he allows it to flutter with incandescent energy above the strings. The concert concludes with Quintet in A Minor for Piano and Strings, Op. 84 by the quintessentially British composer Sir Edward Elgar.

The Meagher Theatre is handicapped accessible and there is ample free parking adjacent to the theatre. We are pleased to announce for this concert in collaboration with the Delaware County Library System a special discounted group ticket price of $6.00 to all individuals upon presentation of their Delco Library Card the day of the concert. Tickets are $12, $10 for seniors and students and free for children 12 and under with each paying adult admission. A special ticket price of $8 applies to groups of 10 or more. The next full symphonic concert will be on Sunday October 18, 2015 featuring guest soloist, Ricardo Morales, clarinet, performing Clarinet Concerto in A Major by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Mr. Morales is the principal clarinetist of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Included in this concert will be First Essay by Samuel Barber, On Hearing the First Cuckoo in Spring by Frederick Delius and Symphony No. 2 in D Major by Jean Sibelius.
