The Public Theater (Oskar Eustis, Artistic Director; Patrick Willingham, Executive Director), in association with PEN American Center, will present a Public Forum program on Monday, December 3 on behalf of writers and artists who have been imprisoned speaking truth to power. THOUGHT IS FREE: An Evening of Protest and Solidarity will be hosted by Liev Schreiber and feature Carl Bernstein, Nathan Englander, Shirin Neshat, Lou Reed, and Salman Rushdie. The multi-award-winning NoHo Arts Center Ensemble (NoHoAce) presents a world premiere play, ONE NOVEMBER YANKEE, written and directed by Joshua Ravetch and starring four-time Golden Globe nominee Harry Hamlin and two-time Emmy winner Loretta Swit. ONE NOVEMBER YANKEE will preview tonight, November 13 at 8pm; Wednesday, November 14 at 8pm; Thursday, November 15 at 8pm and will open on Friday, November 16 at 8pm and will run for eight weeks through Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the NoHo Arts Center, 11136 Magnolia Blvd. (at Lankershim) in North Hollywood.

Soulpepper and the Young Centre Announce 2013 Events

Albert Schultz, Founding Artistic Director of Soulpepper Theatre Company and General Director of the Young Centre for the Performing Arts today announced a full year's slate of artistic and community-based activity for Soulpepper and the Young Centre in 2013. Over 700 performances representing the remarkable artistic and cultural diversity of the city will happen under the Young Centre's roof next year, including festivals, cabarets, and community partnerships. Soulpepper Theatre Company's repertory season features fifteen plays including two marathon-style theatrical events to be staged in their entirety: Tony Kushner's Pulitzer Prize-winning Angels in America (Part One: Millennium Approaches & Part Two: Perestroika) and Alan Ayckbourn's The Norman Conquests (Table Manners, Living Together & Round and Round the Garden). Soulpepper's season includes adaptations of plays from the classical canon (Beaumarchais/Rossini's The Barber of Seville, Schnitzler's La Ronde, and Dickens' Great Expectations) alongside twentieth-century gems by Tom Stoppard, Joe Orton, Sam Shepard and Canada's John Murrell.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY columnist Mark Harris sat down with Pultizer Prize winning playwright Tony Kushner to discuss the highly anticipated film LINCOLN. Kushner, best known for Broadway's Angels in America, penned the screenplay for the upcoming Steven Spielberg epic. In the November 9th issue of the magazine, Kushner revealed that another collaboration with the legendary director is currently in the works.

Stars of David is a world premiere musical based on Abigail Pogrebin's book, Stars of David: Prominent Jews Talk About Being Jewish. Nancy is a journalist who doesn't feel a connection with her Jewish heritage and decides to embark on a book project to interview well-known figures about their cultural identity. The interviews result in words, videos and musical portrayals of Gloria Steinem, Leonard Nimoy, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Joan Rivers, Aaron Sorkin, Tony Kushner, Fran Drescher and more.
