The Public presents the world premiere of Lin-Manuel Miranda's new play Hamilton from Jan 20 to Feb 22, 2015. It is based on the book 'Alexander Hamilton' by Ron Chernow. Miranda will play Hamilton himself.

Presented for the first time in 2013, the Distinguished Service Award is given to an individual or organization that demonstrates extraordinary service and leadership in advancing the mission of the Ruth Page Center for the Arts. Newberry President David Spadafora will be presented with this award at the annual Ruth Page Center for the Arts Gala held Saturday, May 10 at the Chicago Yacht Club, 400 E. Monroe St.

In its fifteenth year, Pride Players continues to challenge teens to use improvisational acting to explore the challenges and successes of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, and straight-allied teens in Omaha. The 17 teens in the show have come together to create and perform a collection of songs, poetry, monologues, and skits that explore a wide variety of issues, ranging from Midwestern stereotypes to gay marriage laws. The resulting show will be presented today, April 3 - 6 at The Rose Theater.

The Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors has announced the appointment of Peter H. Gistelinck as its new Executive Director, effective May 19, 2014. Mr. Gistelinck was unanimously approved by the KSO Board following a six-month nationwide candidate search process led by Arts Consulting Group, Inc.

15 Local Students Awarded Fine Arts Scholarships by The Alden

Fifteen high school students received scholarships for successfully competing in the 2014 James C. Macdonald Fine Arts Scholarship Competition. Sponsored by The Alden at the McLean Community Center (MCC), the final competition was held at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27. MCC Governing Board Vice Chair Susan Bourgeois and Alden Director of Youth Programs Kathleen Herr presented the awards at the final competition-performance.

Directed by his In The Heights collaborator Thomas Kail, this new musical features Miranda playing Alexander Hamilton, one of our country's Founding Fathers and the first Secretary of the Treasury.
