Richard Tucker Music Foundation Winners Launch the Met's 2013 Summer Recital Series Today

The Richard Tucker Music Foundation is happy to note that all three of the singers chosen to launch the Metropolitan Opera's fifth annual free Summer Recital Series are recent Foundation awardees. Presenting a program of arias, duets, and show-tunes at the Central Park SummerStage today, July 16, the singers include two winners of the Foundation's top prize, the coveted Richard Tucker Award: mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard, winner of this year's award, and tenor Stephen Costello, who was similarly honored in 2009. They will be joined by soprano Erin Morley, recipient of a 2013 Richard Tucker Career Grant, and accompanied on piano by Bradley Moore.

Sony Classical to Release 'Leon Fleisher: The Complete Album Collection' on 7/16

On July 16, Sony Classical will release Leon Fleisher: The Complete Album Collection—a 23-CD deluxe box set spanning the legendary pianist's fifty-five years recording for the Columbia/Epic and Sony Classical labels from 1954-2009, yielding some of classical music's definitive recordings. The release comes exactly one week before Fleisher's 85th birthday on July 23, 2013, and is supported by a full schedule of appearances as pianist, conductor, and mentor, in the coming year.

Pianist Simone Dinnerstein gained international success from her recording of Bach's Goldberg Variations, which ranked No. 1 on the US Billboard Classical Chart in its first week of sales. Released in 2007 on Telarc, it was named to many "Best of" lists including those of The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, and The New Yorker. The first classical musician ever featured at (Le) Poisson Rouge(158 Bleecker Street), Ms. Dinnerstein returns as part of LPR X 5: A Celebration of LPR's Fifth Anniversary to perform the Goldberg Variations live on Sunday, June 9 at 7:30pm.

Acclaimed violinist Itzhak Perlman will take center stage as violinist and the podium as guest conductor to lead the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in a program including 'Summer' and 'Winter' from Vivaldi's The Four Seasons and Mahler's Symphony No. 1, 'Titan.' The performances will take place April 25 and 27, at 8:00 p.m., and April 28, 2013, at 3:00 p.m., in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center.
