Sydney's Genesian Theatre has announced an all-female cast for its forthcoming tribute to the late playwright and lyricist, Nick Enright - Enright On The Night. Enright On The Night is devised by David Mitchell and Melvyn Morrow. The pair were actually introduced to each other by Enright and have devised the show especially for the Genesian Theatre, where Enright made his debut at the tender age of 21.

The Great Fire takes place in the all-too-familiar Australian disaster zone: mum and dad's place at Christmas. On an idyllic Adelaide Hills property, a family gathers to decide the next phase of their lives as part of the ever-gentrifying arts industry in this domestic drama written by Kit Brookman. This reviewer should declare that, having been born and raised in Adelaide and therefore aware of the artistic prowess of the Brookman family there, I may be somewhat biased in my familiarity for this piece. Nevertheless, we carry on.

Sydney Theatre Company's (STC) acclaimed production of Uncle Vanya by Anton Chekhov, adapted by Andrew Upton and directed by Tamas Ascher (whose staging of Ivanov for Katona Jozsef Theatre was critically acclaimed at Lincoln Center Festival 2009), just opened at the Lincoln Center Festival. The production was named the best play of the year by Washington Post critic Peter Marks, who put the play in the number one spot on his annual list of theatre's top ten.
