The Regional Theatre Young Director Scheme (RTYDS) has made significant inroads in promoting and enabling directors from under represented backgrounds to forge a career in theatre and artistic leadership, with significant new funding from Arts Council England.

A world premiere, a British premiere and a much loved classic.

Mark Rylance, three-time Tony Award winner (Jerusalem, Boeing-Boeing, Twelfth Night) and Academy Award-winner (Bridge of Spies), will return to Broadway in the critically acclaimed Shakespeare's Globe production of FARINELLI AND THE KING, a new play with music by author and composer Claire van Kampen, it was announced today by producers Sonia Friedman, Shakespeare's Globe and Paula Marie Black.

The Donmar Warehouse today announces full casting for The Public Administration and Constitution Affairs Committee Take Oral Evidence on Whitehall's Relationship with Kids Company a new musical with music by Tom Deering, and book and lyrics by Hadley Fraser and Josie Rourke.   

The Menier Chocolate Factory today announces that Charlotte Spencer joins Eve Best, Edward Bluemel, Anthony Head, Vivienne Rochester and Nicola Sloane in Terence Rattigan's Love in Idleness as it transfers to the Apollo Theatre for a strictly limited season.

Artistic Director Conrad Lynch today announces the ensemble for the Theatre by the Lake's Summer Season - the first time the theatre has featured two-companies. They will perform over 5 productions in rep - After the Dance, As You Like It, Miss Julie, Handbagged and Remarkable Invisible - in both the theatre's spaces.

With Love in Idleness currently running at its home base and soon to follow its production of Travesties at the Apollo Theatre, and with David Baddiel: My Family Not the Sitcom running in the West End, and Funny Girl on a major national tour, the Menier Chocolate Factory announces a casting update for its production of Peter Shaffer's Lettice and Lovage.

Octagon Theatre Bolton has announced full casting for their forthcoming world premiere production of Timberlake Wertenbaker's new play Winter Hill.

Theatre Royal Bath Productions has today released production photography of Mike Leigh's Abigail's Party starring Amanda Abbington and directed by Sarah Esdaile. Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the classic comedy, the production opened at Theatre Royal Bath and has its official opening night for press on Thursday 6 April at Oxford Playhouse before continuing on its UK Tour and to London's West End. The National Theatre has collaborated with eight UK arts organisations to create a new play inspired by the recent EU Referendum, presented on stage at HOME as part of a UK tour following its current run at the NT's Dorfman Theatre in London.

This autumn, the New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich will again collaborate with Salisbury Playhouse and Queen's Theatre Hornchurch to produce Graham Linehan's THE LADYKILLERS from Thu 7 to Sat 30 September.

Maureen Beattie, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Gerrome Miller, Beatrice Scirocchi and Andrew Sheridan have been cast in Simon Stephens' Nuclear War directed by Imogen Knight. It runs in the Royal Court Jerwood Theatre Upstairs 19 April 2017 - 6 May 2017 with Press Night on Friday 21 April.
