Every year you can count on STAGES St. Louis to produce a wonderful season of musicals, and you can always be sure there will be something for the younger set in the schedule as well. And,they make sure that the same care and professionalism goes into the production of each and every show, no matter who it's aimed at. The Westport Playhouse has also proved to be a good venue for these Theatre for Young Audiences presentations, and with each subsequent show here they seem to really be getting more and more comfortable with the very intimate surroundings it provides. Such is the case with their offering this year, DISNEY'S ALICE IN WONDERLAND, a very colorful, engaging, and extremely entertaining musical that manages to pack a lot into around an hours time. It may just be the best show of this type they've ever produced, and I highly recommend it!

It's always fun to take in the many treats available at Shakespeare Festival St. Louis each year in Forest Park, and I'm not just talking about the food and drink stands, but also all the performers, mini-versions of the show, etc, that take place before the main attraction begins (arrive early). And,with the weather just a touch cooler there's no excuse not to attend, Besides, it's truly special watching a classic work by the immortal bard under the stars. This year a most apropos example of his work, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, takes flight in the wooded confines, exactly the place where the action of this play occurs. It's a match made in heaven, and it's also a work that, as I've stated in other reviews, is a great introduction to the playwright. So, by all means, bring the family and enjoy this fantastic production.

Tumble down the rabbit hole with STAGES St. Louis this summer for its Theatre for Young Audiences production, Disney's Alice in Wonderland, June 15th - July 3rd, at The Playhouse at Westport Plaza in Maryland Heights. Following its recent 2016 Arts Organization Award from the Missouri Arts Council and five St. Louis Theater Circle Awards, STAGES St. Louis has announced casting for its celebratory 30th Anniversary Season: It Shoulda Been You, The Drowsy Chaperone, and Sister Act.

? Renowned New York actress and Olivier nominee Nancy Anderson will play the role of Titania in Shakespeare Festival St. Louis' production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, June 3-26, at Shakespeare Glen in Forest Park.  This marks the company's 16th season of free, outdoor, professional theatre in the park.  Preview performances are scheduled June 1-2.  Performances run nightly, except Tuesdays, and begin at 8 p.m. 

The Traverse announces its Spring season today (7 December 2015), featuring new work from Scotland and beyond. The Traverse is delighted to welcome back Michael Boyd to direct Right Now by Quebecois playwright, Catherine-Anne Toupin, in a translation by Chris Campbell.

New York performers Michael Sharon and Shirine Babb will play the roles of Antony and Cleopatra, respectively, in Shakespeare Festival St. Louis' production of Antony and Cleopatra, May 22 through June 14, at Shakespeare Glen in Forest Park. This marks the company's 15-year anniversary of free, live, outdoor, professional theatre in the park.

Connecticut Repertory Theatre presents the comedy directed by Paul Mullins, onstage February 28- March 9 in the Nafe Katter Theater, Storrs. Sarah Wintermeyer stars as Beatrice and matches wits in this hilarious battle of the sexes with James Jelkin's Benedick.

Opening the season is Lillian Hellman's brilliant 1934 play, The Children's Hour. Bullying, sexual confusion and suicide provide the basis to this dark piece. A show written 79 years ago, yet so poignant to our current state.
