AOP (American Opera Projects) and The Phoenix Concerts will co-produce 'AOP25: Celebrating Composers & the Voice,' a concert featuring the work of composers and librettists from AOP's C&V (Composers & the Voice) program, an annual fellowship that trains composers to write for the operatic voice. For the first time in over a decade, Ohio State's School of Music presents Mozart'sRequiem Mass in D Minor at 3 pm today, March 3 in Mershon Auditorium, 1871 North High St. Conducted by Robert Ward, director of choral activities, the powerful piece will bring together Ohio State's Chorale, Symphonic Choir, Men's Glee Club, Women's Glee Club, and Symphony Orchestra. In all, the performance will feature 252 vocalists and 35 orchestra members.

Sarasota Opera Receives NEA Grant

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Rocco Landesman announced today that Sarasota Opera is one of 832 non-profit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. Sarasota Opera is recommended for a $30,000 grant to support to support performances of Carlisle Floyd's opera Of Mice and Men, as part of the third year of the 'American Classics Series,' accompanied by significant educational programming.

SONiC - Sounds of a New Century - a brand new festival of 21st century music by more than 100 composers age 40 and under, will take over New York from Friday, October 14 through Saturday, October 22, 2011. Events will range from a daylong marathon to a DJ/VJ night, from a free symphony concert at the World Financial Center Winter Garden to collaborations between emerging choreographers and composers.
